3 types of communication

The 3 types of communication are written communication, interpersonal and general communication.

Effective communication

General communication

General communication is used on a daily basis. It will mold the day. This can be effected by the visual elements such as body language and gestures. The vocal and verbal side can use different tones of voice different pitches and is took by people different depending on the volume. overall it's just how your message comes across. The message may not be understood if it comes across in the wrong manner. An example of this would be if someone was speaking in the wrong tone of voice this could confuse the receiver as they may confuse positive for negative. This would mean the person could adjust the language to be more positive or use a more up beat tone in their voice.

Examples of general:body language,verbal language used-formal/informal.

Interpersonal

This type of communication comes when you are face to face with someone. The skill is to make them understand what you mean and for you to able to understand them regardless of differences. A good example is when someone may be def the other person may get past this barrier by speaking slower and using less complex words this will allow the def person to read or if the other person knows sign language they can use that.

Examples of interpersonal skills:tone of voice,informal/formal language,gestures.

written communication

Written communication is mostly used over letter on via email. This means it will be being sent. The idea is for the other person to understand what you mean in that message alone. A problem with this could be if say the person blind you will be able to get around this by sending a letter in braille that way they could read it. You could also allow someone read it out loud once they have received it.

examples of written: language used,grammar,punctuation,format.

general communication barrier

In general communication a barrier could be the use of slang or incorrect body language . This may make the other person confused because they think a word means something else to what the 1st person did. To avoid this it is a simple case of just use the language of the country such as English only use words in the dictionary and keep them as simple as they can in order for the other person to understand. The other person can then also ask for the definition of the word. Body language will need to be adjusted to the way your wanting to come across for example in a interview you should be standing tall with your back straight and a firm hand shake. If you are hunched over it does not look professional. The simple way to correct this is think about how you are holding your self. If the surroundings are busy and loud you will not be able to hear each other this mean you will have to use other ways of communicating for example texting each other while you are near each other.

Interpersonal communication barrier

This type of communication requires you to be face to face with someone. This is the ability for the other person to understand what you mean in the manner you meant it to come across. A barrier of this would be if someone is def, this is a issue because you can then not use verbal communication. The alternate would be to use simple language and talk slowly this will allow them to read your lips and read your body language to judge the situation and understand what you mean. you could also use sign language and gestures to allow the other person to visually see what you mean. If they have a translator you could speak into it and this will allow them to read what you mean.If the surroundings are busy and loud you will not be able to hear each other this mean you will have to use other ways of communicating for example texting each other while you are near each other.

written communication barriers

This type of communication is normally modernized by computers so emails are sent. If you want to send a email to a blind person this is a problem cause they will not be able to read it. This can be a problem the way to avoid it is to get someone read the email out to them once it has been sent. You can also simple send a letter in braille if you want more privacy this will allow them to feel the writing rather than reading it. If a person does not have a device with internet you could also just simply send a letter to them.

If you do not know the location of someone a email would work as it does not have a specific location and can be located any where.
