Parent Teacher Conferences
Reminder - No School
Students will not have school on Thursday, October 15th or Friday, October 16th. Enjoy the extended time with your family!
1st Quarter Grades
- We have had a very shortened quarter. Normally, we have 40 or more days in a quarter, this year we had 24.
- Starting the year, teachers took time to work on the social emotional learning which was important and valuable as we transitioned back to in person learning.
- Teachers may only have a few grades and at this time due to this both of the items above.
You will notice that effort grades for art, general music and PE are blank and the skills checklist boxes for each of the subjects are marked “N/A.” Due to the late start and hybrid schedule, students have had limited contacts with these teachers and has not allowed adequate time for teachers to gather data to assign grades.
We anticipate that typical grading will be back in place for the second quarter and throughout the rest of the year for students learning in-person.
Snacks and Birthday Treats
Birthday Treats - Bringing birthday treats is and always has been optional and a family decision. We know that it is also an enjoyable experience for children. Due to our circumstances, birthday treats need to be individually wrapped items and store bought (not homemade). We also highly encourage non-edible birthday treats for the class – erasers, pencils, etc. Students will not be able to deliver to other teachers, only distributed to the classmates.

Fall Parties and Costumes
On Friday, October 30th, students will have the opportunity to participate in wearing a costume and enjoying a class party at school. In order to make this activity appropriate for the school setting, and to ensure a fun, safe, and healthy activity, please note the following policy and guidelines in place at Manchester Park.
Children, their safety, and education are top priorities at this school. Because of this, the guidelines listed here should be used as you select the costume your child will wear.
Students will wear their costumes to school and throughout the day. Please keep the following in mind when selecting a costume:
- No costume masks should be worn. Please continue to wear the masks that keep us safe.
- No blood, guts, weapons or gore.
- No face/body paint should worn or be brought to school eliminating the potential risk of spills and stains. (Costume make-up used to create such details as freckles or whiskers can be worn to school as long as it is not so obvious as to cause disruptions resulting in distracting students from instruction.)
- Please consider a costume that can be put over their clothes. If this is not a possibility, please plan to have an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack.
- No inflatable or large costumes that would make it difficult to sit in a seat throughout the day.
Please know the above guidelines for costumes are not meant to take the fun from this time of year, but are meant to provide boundaries that will allow students to participate in a safe and positive way. Please know that we will not allow costumes that fall outside of the above guidelines to be worn and students will be asked to change into their regular school clothes.
We will not have our normal parade this year, but the class parties will take place at 2:30 on October 30th.

Visitors/Parents/Volunteers at Manchester Park (Reminder)
Visiting/Volunteering at School
Our families, visitors, and volunteers are vitally important to us and the educational process. We know parents often want to come for lunch, volunteer, and support their children and our staff during the day. As difficult as this is, during our first semester, this just isn't going to be possible because of the current circumstances and the need to keep students and staff safe. There are very few reasons we would allow entry into the school.
Child Pick Up:
If you come to pick your child up during the day outside of dismissal time, please call the school (780-7540) to let us know. Come to the front of the building, ring the doorbell, sign the student out, and we will have you stand by the main entrance until your child comes down to the office.
Child Drop Off:
If you are dropping your child off during a time that is not arrival time, please walk your child to the front doors. Open the door and direct your child to come into the office. We will help check them in and get them to class.
Student Items Forgotten:
If the student must have the item, like a lunch, please come to the building and ring the bell. Let the office know you have a drop off. There will be a small table in the entry way with writing utensils to label the items. You may leave the item on the table. We will pick it up and deliver.
Special Services and 504 Meetings
These meetings will take place via Zoom. Our team will continue to service students on their attendance day if they are in-person.
Parent Meetings with Teacher, Staff Member, or Mr. Bohon
These meetings will also take place via Zoom, via telephone, or email.
If you have the need for a face-to-face meeting, please contact the office to schedule an appointment. However, all meetings will occur in the office.
