Academy of the Arts at Bransom
February 12-16, 2018 (School Days 105-109)
A Note From Your Principal
Academy of the Arts Families,
I hope this finds everyone enjoying the interesting weather, wonderful family times, and amazing Olympics. There are so many learning opportunities that can be supported through family conversations during the supper hour and even around the television during the nightly Olympic broadcasts. Take the time to ask questions and answer questions with your child(ren). Just in terms of the Olympics, questions can range from the grit it takes to do a job well (work ethic) to geography awareness (social studies) to scores (math.) It can be a very insightful time for you both for sure.
I want to send a special thanks for all of the volunteers who help us on a regular basis in classrooms and around our campus. We love having you on campus. This past week we had a special group of parents who stepped out to volunteer in a unique and special way. Several (40 I believe) 5th grade parents attended the 3 day field trip to Camp Grady Spruce. I'm sure I will hear some amazing stories this week but there is enough evidence I believe i can say that the trip was a success. THANKS, parents who helped the teachers and counselors as well as the students throughout the event. I know it was difficult but the incredible adventure was great for the students. Your positive attitudes, your helpful conversations, and your leadership always matter, Thanks for making the trip memorable for all.
This next week will be a busy week for Bobcats. Please check the calendar below for specifics but I do want to highlight a couple of things. *First, this week we will celebrate Valentines Day. If you are planning to attend your child's party, please join us a few minutes early to get a parking spot and get checked in before 2:00. *Secondly, I realize I have had information about the Choice Night in the newsletter for several weeks. Well, this is the big week for the event. I think it will be an interesting night for all BISD families. If you are looking to see what other elementary schools are offering or you are preparing for middle school it will be a great time to see your options. Also, it is great to just be informed. Join the district on Thursday evening sometime between 6:00 and 8:00 for this informational extravaganza. *Finally, Friday is an Early Release Day for students. They will be released at 11:45. Make sure that you have made appropriate arrangements for your child's pick up. Teachers will be in meetings all afternoon after their lunch and not available to watch students. Childcare can only be provided through the prearranged After School Program. (For ASP information, call 817-245-3600 after 1:00.)
One additional calendar event that must be recognized is the student holiday on Monday, February 19th. There will be no school for students on Presidents' Day. There will be no on-campus childcare.
Thanks again for ALL you do,
Mrs. Burchfield
