Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
We are nearing the middle of the first trimester and our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. All parents of students in kindergarten through grade 8 are strongly encouraged to come in to meet with their child’s teacher on Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11. School will dismiss at 2pm both days to allow time for conferences. Aftercare will be available until 6pm.
Kindergarten through Grade 5: Conferences are scheduled with homeroom teachers for ten minutes. A scheduling form was sent home in the white envelope last week. Please be sure to return it at your earliest convenience. Once scheduled, the form will be returned to you to confirm your time.
Middle School: Parents are encouraged to pick up their child’s progress reports from the middle school hallway. Teachers will be available for parents to drop in and have a conference with teachers of their choosing. Times are: Thursday, October 10th from 2:30pm-6:00pm and Friday, October 12th from 2:30pm-3:30pm.

8th Grade Attends Private Mass
Father Jimson and Father Rony each celebrated special, private Masses this week for both of the eighth grade homerooms. The priests had the children surround the altar so they could participate in an up-close and intimate experience of the beauty of our Mass. They also took the time to explain each part of the Mass and let the students add their own special intentions. It was a beautiful experience and each month, a different grade will get to participate.
A Hydroponics Club will be forming for all interested middle school students beginning September 24th. The club will meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 3:30-4:15pm. This club will be maintaining our new hydroponics station that was installed over the summer.
Our Walk-a-thon was a huge success! Not only did we meet our goal of $20,000, but the students had a great time at the event! Thank you to all who supported this fund-raiser. We would especially like to thank the walk-a-thon committee who organized and ran the entire event. The students had a wonderful time rotating through the different stations: walking the field, dance party in the gym, obstacle course in the parking lot, and finally a treat.
Grade7 Hosted Mass
Grade 7 did a great job hosting the 4:30pm Mass last Saturday!
Blue Mass for First Responders
Bishop Noonan will celebrate the Blue Mass for first responders on Friday, September 27th at 12:10pm at the St. James Cathedral in downtown Orlando. We are looking for students who can represent SJCS by attending this mass with their first responder parent/relative. This will be considered a field trip, students will not be marked absent. However, transportation will not be provided. If your child is interested in attending this very special mass, please contact Mr. Reilly at email@example.com.
School Store Opening
The Church Children’s Choir needs members. Practices are each Thursday evening from 5:00-6:00pm in the Parish Center Music Room. For more information, contact Jitka Cinibulk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death.
