Information about Northshore School District Ballot Measures
Northshore has three local funding measures for our students and schools in the February 8, 2022 election.
Renewal of the Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy continues day-to-day operations that are not funded by the state.
Renewal of the Technology levy continues funding to maintain our investment in technology for our students, including a 1-to-1 ratio of take-home devices to students and teacher training to support learning.
The Capital Projects bond will address our highest facility needs by funding additional classrooms and reducing the reliance on portables while also making necessary repairs to our buildings.
Specific to our school, East Ridge will receive safety and technology infrastructure improvements including updated equipment for video monitoring systems, emergency preparation, wireless networks, and updated network wiring in older locations as well as expanded wireless coverage in under-served areas will also be added. We will also receive technology devices for students and staff on a four-year replacement cycle, new classroom technology tools to support innovative learning, adaptive technology tools to support individual student learning needs, and ongoing training opportunities for staff.
The annual school tax rate is projected to decrease during the four years of the measures. With an all-mail election, please watch for your ballot arriving around January 20 and remember to vote. Ballots must be returned by Election Day on February 8.

Service Dog on Campus
Beginning this month, we will have a service dog in one of our kindergarten classrooms in order to support the medical needs of a student. Families in this specific classroom have received more information. This service animal will be in compliance with all district policies, including:
A clean, appropriate environment for students and animal(s) will be maintained.
Safe handling will be reviewed with students, including when/if it is ok to pet the dog.
Please contact Mrs. White if you have questions or concerns.

NAEP Testing on 2/8/22
Some East Ridge 4th graders have been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on February 8th. This test is to assess what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP differs from state assessments as it is a common measure of achievement across the country. Schools and students are randomly selected. Families of the students that have been randomly selected have been notified.
Positive COVID Notification
In support of school community safety, it is our goal to provide strong communication. This includes notification of any positive COVID test of a person at our school. I am writing to inform you that today we learned about 4 positive COVID cases for individuals who were at school at some time last week. If the person who tested positive is in your child's class, you will receive a separate email.
Unless you receive separate notification from East Ridge via text/automated phone call/email, we do not believe your child was exposed or had close contact with these person(s). The individuals with COVID-19 will not be able to return to school until after their contagious period has passed. This period is 5 days after the start of symptoms and 24 hours after fever and symptoms improve without the use of medications.
You can find Northshore School District COVID information here. It is recommended that all families continue to monitor their child for symptoms of COVID-19.
We understand receiving information about positive cases can cause concern for families. We continue to implement consistent safety protocols at East Ridge in support of the well-being of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate your ongoing partnership and trust in this effort.
