PANTHER PRESS - SUMMER EDITION #1
Ideas for Reading, Learning, Playing & Helping June 2020
Dear PHCS Parents,
First, let me begin by congratulating all of our graduates! They will certainly make us proud as they make their way through the world! We are also excited about the students we are sending to 7th grade . . . Junior High will be a blast and I know their teachers will enjoy working with them so much.
"Everything good, everything magical, happens between the months of June and August." Remember that feeling? Jenny Han, a former school librarian and author of The Summer I Turned Pretty, captures our kids' anticipation of summer perfectly. This summer is perhaps a little strange, though. With camps and youth programs canceled, we've got some long days ahead of us. What to do? This "summer edition" of the PHCS Elementary Panther Press presents some ideas to help you navigate the summer months with your children.
Experts suggest keeping to a routine, limiting screen time, maximizing outdoor time (where possible), and keeping the learning going. Here is a variety of no-cost tips and ideas for keeping kids happy, productive, learning, and doing.
Happy summer and thank you in advance for supporting your learner!

"I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer."

Learning Through the Summer Months
Play is Important!
DIY-it!
- Here's a great recipe for DIY playdough (too old for playdough? How about slime?)
- Here's an easy way to make your own bubbles and bubble wands.
- Or repurpose outgrown blue jeans into cute tote bags
- And then there's the lemonade stand... here's a great book that teaches kids (of any age) the tools and skills for managing their own business.
