November 2022

DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES OF LBW

Thank you for those of you that were able to participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 20th. We appreciate your willingness to be involved with your child's education. Together we all want what is best for your child--again, thank you for taking the time to attend.

This upcoming weekend is our LBW Carnival from 11 to 1pm on Saturday, Nov 5th. We are still in need of volunteers to help work the games throughout the different sessions. Please sign up here to volunteer https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4cafab29a3ff2-lbwpto2. Also, last week we sent out a list of donations we need for the carnival including cakes, cookies, bars and candy bars. We really want to make this a success for our kids. Please help make this the best carnival ever! We are so proud of our students for selling over 15,000 worth of raffle tickets. A big shout out to Delilah Wisdom for being our top raffle ticket salesperson this year. Way to go!

From November 14th - 19th we will be celebrating our teachers during American Education Week. On Tuesday, November 16, the LBW Student Council President, Lawler Bottum, will be meeting with Mitchell's Mayor, Bob Everson, to witness the signing of the Proclamation for American Education Week. During this week special events will be happening for our teachers from our LBW Parent Teacher Organization group. What a special week for all our entire staff!

In the season of being thankful, thank YOU parents for being supportive of our students and staff at LBW. As we approach the holiday season, we want to continue to stress how important quality time is together. Take some time to truly enjoy the amazing relationships and activities you can all enjoy together.

Our staff and students wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Notes from the Nurse

The nurse's office has had a mild fall, which we are happy about. The staff at LBW tries very hard to keep things and surfaces as sanitary as possible, but it only takes one germ to cause problems! Please remind your children and your entire family the most effective prevention for the spread of germs is good HANDWASHING! Also, remind them to cough/sneeze etc... into their shirt sleeve instead of their hands. Please have your child and your entire family flu vaccinated this flu season, if you have not already done so. It's never too early ~ Brenda Axemaker LB Nurse

Bus Load of Books Made it to LB Williams

What a day we had on Monday, Oct 24 at LBW! Robbi Behr and Matthew Swanson arrived with their family for the day. All classrooms had pictures with them in front of their bus, plus we met their dog, Dumbles. They gave all K-2 grade students the Everywhere, Wonder book and all 3-5 students received the book titled Ben Yokoyama and the Cookie of Doom. We were honored to be the only school in South Dakota to have these talented individuals stop in our community on their year long tour. The two assemblies plus a small group discussion was outstanding. We are thankful for their message of being creative and sharing their love of literacy with us on our special day.
