Maple Messenger

May Edition

Principal's Corner

It’s amazing to me to see the end of the school year arrive so quickly. I want to thank you all for the support and patience shown these past 10 months of school during a pandemic. We had successes and some challenges, yet despite everything, we continued to work to ensure the safety and educational needs of our amazing students.

There are countless people to whom I owe an expression of gratitude and hope that we continue working together in the coming years. I owe a huge thank you to the Maple staff that chose to have positive attitudes throughout a year of trials and tribulations. This staff loves your children and are always striving to assist them in any way they need. A big thank you to the parents/guardians of Maple students as well! Your presence and support make a much stronger working community that supports the school’s goals and ensures our students’ are our top priority.

In closing, I will take this opportunity to congratulate all students of Maple Grade School! I wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer.

Please be sure to take time as family to talk, play and READ together. I look forward to seeing you in August. To those of who are leaving us for new places we wish you all the best!!

Kind Regards,

Avoid the Summer Slide!

Teachers around the country are aware of summer slide. And no, it is not the fun slide you find in the park or at a waterpark! Summer slide is the backwards movement of children's academic progress that can occur over the summer months when they are not in school. No, we don't want your children reading all day long or working on math facts for hours on end this summer. However, as parents and guardians, there are many ways to prevent the dreaded summer slide and protect the academic progress your child has made this year. I have shared several articles to assist you with some of those ideas!
