Kindergarten Readiness Assessment
News & Updates for Parents
Kindergarten Readiness Assessment
This fall, as your child enters kindergarten, his or her teacher will administer the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment to gather information about your child's kindergarten readiness. This information will help teachers develop a plan for supporting your child in kindergarten. The assessment covers six areas: Social Skills, Language, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Motor Development. Teachers will have reports to share with you about your child's performance on this assessment.
The assessment will be for all children including children with disabilities and English Language Learners.
The results of the assessment will provide a starting point for instruction and cannot prohibit any child from entering kindergarten.
Assessment Window
The amount of time it will take to administer, score and input assessment item data will vary from teacher-to-teacher and class-to-class.
The students will be assessed in whole group, small group and one to one settings. There will be three ways for your child to show what he or she knows and is able to do. Your child will select answers to questions and complete requested tasks. The teacher will also observe your child during the normal school day.
