I believe that I am special.

I am different to every other person and have my own gifts.

I believe that God knows and loves me just as I am.

He helps me to grow to be like Him, and to always do my best.

I believe that I can become the person that God wants me to be, because the people in my school and family care for me.

Welcome back to Term Three

The holiday weeks go by very quickly, but I hope that the time away from the school routine allowed for some relaxation, in readiness for another busy term ahead at school!

As teachers, students and parents we strive to actively value and support all members of our School community, and as we do this we grow in love and understanding of each other. As we begin a new term together, we look forward to gracious and tolerant attitudes towards each other, so that we can all fulfill our God-given potential academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

It was wonderful to see the children back safe, well and ready for a big term of work and play. Also congratulations to all the children who were in full school winter uniform. Our children certainly represent our school with pride, in the way they wear their uniform.

We welcome to our staff Mrs Sarah Cragg who is teaching AUSLAN from Kindy-Year 6 and Mrs Emily Welsh who will be working one day in Year 5 White every Thursday.

Thank You

I wish to thank Mrs Killalea for her outstanding work as Acting Principal last term while I was on long service leave. Mrs Killalea lead our school with distinction! I also wish to thank Mrs Williams and Mr Kirry for supporting Mrs Killalea as Assistant Principals. They also demonstrated wonderful leadership.

Change of Provider to Before and After School Care

St Luke’s Parish in consultation with St Luke’s School has asked me to inform all parents that from January 1, 2022, Discovery Kids will become the before and after school care provider operating from the Parish. We have made sure prices are similar for parents who utilise this important service. More information will be provided by Discovery Kids in the coming months.

World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly

His Eminence, Cardinal Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life at the

Vatican, recently announced ‘World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly’. This Day will be celebrated for the first time this year on Sunday, 25 July with the hope of deeply embedding this joyous celebration into the lives of communities.

Assemblies and Class Masses

Today we had our whole school Mass to start term three. A special thank you to Mrs Williams for coordinating the Mass and thank you to the children who read beautifully and the choir for leading the hymns.

Year 2 will be presenting their NAIDOC assembly tomorrow morning. We look forward to seeing you there!

Pupil Free Days

We have two pupil free days this term. They are: Monday, 16 and Tuesday, 17 August. The Term Three Parent Calendar is now ready and available on the website for parents to peruse.

Parents (and the P&F) who have volunteered to run the canteen this term have been very busy preparing yummy lunches for us on Mondays. Thank you for your support!

LOVE is a special feeling that fills your heart. You show LOVE in a smile, a pleasant way of speaking, a thoughtful act or a hug. LOVE is treating people and things with special care and kindness because they mean so much to you. LOVE is treating other people just as you would like them to treat you – with care and respect.

God Moments:

· Watching the students greet each other on this week and busily commence chatting immediately on arrival at school.

· Having staff, students and parents welcoming me back to St Luke’s and saying it is great to see you back. Thank you everyone, it is great to be back!

· Observing the care displayed from the staff to the students and students to students.

Welcome ITdynamics!

This term we have engaged with a new IT support company here at St Luke's. ITdynamics is a local IT service provider who specialise in education and currently work with over 91 CEWA schools! Nathan Fonceca is not only the Director of the company but also has a vested interest in our school as he graduated from St Luke's in 1998! We are excited to work closely with our new service provider to improve the infrastructure and overall technology experience for all of our staff and students. If you see Nathan around the school, be sure to say hello.

Kaya and wandjoo! This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week at St Luke’s. We were visited by Greg Nannup, the son of local Noongar Elder Dr Noel Nannup, who talked to us about our local area. The children learnt how the flora and fauna around us has been used by Noongar people for thousands of years to survive. We were also shown the many uses for animal skins and were lucky enough to be able to touch these artefacts. Seeing how string could be made from reeds was a highlight for many, and we were all given a piece to take back to our classrooms. The Year Two children will be presenting the NAIDOC Week assembly this Friday, and the winners for our poster competition will be announced.

Boorda 😊

Living the St Luke's Values

It is always so lovely to see our students interacting with each other in the playground. Day in and day out we see students exhibiting our Rainbow Values when spending time with each other. It was lovely to see some of our Year 2 students making flower pots on the oval at lunchtime on Wednesday! Keep shining your light at St Luke's, everyone!

Gianni Lo Faro (Y6) is to be congratulated for successfully auditioning for a music scholarship at Mater Dei College. This is an outstanding achievement, Gianni, we are all very proud of you!

If you have some great news or any achievements to share in the newsletter, we would love to hear from you:
