BME Arrival & Dismissal Information
Important Information For the First Days of School
We're READY!
We have long awaited the return of students to school! We are incredibly excited to (re)connect and receive students on their first day of school, Monday, August 10th.
In effort to help ease some first day jitters, this newsletter is provided in hopes to communicate our procedures to make for smooth transitions on and off our Boone Meadow campus. Bus transportation was made available when families selected in person learning. Families have the option to bring their children in cars, or they may walk or bike with their child to the campus on days when weather cooperates.
We encourage you to carefully read the information regarding our arrival and dismissal processes. Understanding our plans and procedures greatly assist in smooth, safe, and efficient arrivals and dismissals.
Note: Between the start of school and November 1st, we will have crossing guards available unless weather is inclement.
Car Riders
We anticipate a significant increase in car ridership this school year. If you plan for your family to be car riders, please carefully read and adhere to the following information. Also, you can anticipate a larger presence of local safety partners.
Arrival
- When dropping off your child in the morning, you will utilize the Eagle Church access road off Main Street. Drivers will need to form two lines while waiting at the end of the access road. This allows us to double the number of cars waiting in line before backing up onto Main Street.
- At approximately 7:50 and under direction of Officer Bob Anderson, cars will be motioned forward to merge into a single lane. Vehicles will proceed to the curbside drop off zone where Boone Meadow Staff will be waiting to greet your child as they enter the building.
- Once you are safely stopped along the curb, students MUST exit on the passenger side (curbside) of the vehicle. There is NO passing other vehicles, so please practice patience as we work through the kinks!
- BME staff will motion cars forward when it is safe to depart.
- Once inside, staff members will be staged in the hallways in order to assist students to safely travel to their classrooms.
- Classroom teachers will be waiting to greet your child at the doorway to their rooms.
Dismissal
We are anticipating a significant increase in car ridership this school year, and greatly appreciate everyone's cooperation in making this process run smoothly.
- When picking up your child in the afternoon, drivers will need to utilize the Eagle Church access road off Main Street to begin queuing of vehicles. Cars make two lines, and will wait at the end of the access road before entering Boone Meadow's parking lot. This allows us to double the number of cars waiting in line before backing up onto Main Street.
- FAMILY # - Your 3-digit Family Car Rider Number needs to be prominently displayed in the front window of the vehicle in order for the process to run smoothly. Your family's 3-digit number was provided for you on Thursday evening's "Meet and Greet"/Open House. If you do not have it, please contact either your child's teacher or the front office. (1) This number is used to call your child down from their classroom to meet you at your vehicle. (3) If your child is carpooling with other families, it is important that the driver has all family numbers ready for display in the front window of the vehicle.
- When you are directed to do so, cars will be motioned forward into the curbside pickup zone, merging in an alternating pattern. Please be aware of Officer Bob's signal.
- Staff members will be stationed along the curb to meet your child as they come outside to the designated pick up location. When children are safely loaded, staff members will motion cars forward to exit.
- Note: Vehicles be able to exit the parking lot at the main entrance near the crosswalk, unless otherwise directed by staff or safety partners to do otherwise.
***Please note:
Clear communication of your dismissal plan is critical.
- Please be sure your child knows their transportation plan and that your child's teacher is informed.
- If you family's transportation plan changes during the day, you must call the office prior to 2:00 PM.
- Due to an increased numbers of car riders, buses will most likely leave Boone Meadow campus prior to all cars being loaded. This means we will NOT be able to hold buses for students.
- Transportation change: Again, it is imperative that any transportation changes need to be made by calling the front office no later than 2:00 PM.
Bus Riders
Arrival
- When buses arrive at Boone Meadow, a staff member will radio to bus drivers to release students.
- Kindergarten students are always released first. Bridge & Early Start Spanish staff greets and escorts Kindergarten students through door #7 to the cafeteria for their programming.
- Once Kindergarten students are safely inside, remaining buses are dismissed one by one and students will be directed to walk inside, using our designated walking paths to maintain one-direction flow. (3rd/4th grade students will enter the building through Door #6 & all 1st/2nd grade students enter Door #7)
- Staff members will be staged throughout the hallways to help children get where they need to go. In addition, all classroom teachers will be eagerly waiting to greet students outside the classroom door.
Dismissal
- Students will be called by Bus Number from their classroom where they will meet a designated staff member who will walk students to the Bus Lot together.
***Please note:

Walkers and Bike Riders
An adult must accompany walkers and bike riders to the bike rack just south of the main entrance to Boone Meadow. This is to ensure safety with increased traffic at Main Street and the parking lot area.
Arrival
- Staff members will be positioned to assist with traffic when needed, and to welcome your child to school. Please say your goodbyes at the bike rack zone, where students will proceed to school by entering through Door #1.
- 3rd/4th grade students should use the halls and stairs on the North end of the building to get to class, while 1st/2nd graders should use the halls and stairs on the South end of the building.
- Inside the building, BME team members will be staged throughout the hallways in order to ensure students get to their classrooms. Classroom teachers will be waiting to greet your child at the door.
- When Kindergarten students arrive, additional staff will be located at the front of the building, as well as in the hallways to guide them safely and comfortably to their rooms.
Dismissal
- Walkers and Bike Riders will be dismissed directly from their classrooms to meet a BME staff member at a designated location near our STEM garden doors (#15).
- When all walkers and bike riders arrive, the staff member will walk students outside.
- Bike riders will collect bikes from the bike zone, and then the group will proceed to walk toward the crosswalk at Main Street.
- Parents should meet their child at the crosswalk.
Before & After School Care (BAC)
Please note: BAC arrival procedures are different than in previous years. Due to health and safety guidelines, we are implementing a car line drop off and pick up procedure for BAC. With a car line drop off procedure, you will not need a door code or a tablet pin code.
Note: Drop off times for BAC are 6:45-7:25 at door #7. After 7:25, BAC/Bridge drop off is available from 7:50-8:00 through the car rider drop off procedures in front of the building.
Arrival
- Between 6:45-7:25 AM, please use the north entrance to campus and drive to the back of the building to Door #7. BAC staff will be positioned near Door #7, which is the back lot entrance to the building located closest to the playground.
- If a staff member is not present, please call 317-696-9533, and a BAC team member will meet your child at the door. NOTE: Please do not drop off your child without a staff member being present.
- After 7:25, the back lot will need to be cleared in preparation for bus arrivals. Thus, after 7:25, families will need to join the car line in the front of the building (entrance at Eagle Church). Please note: Students will not be allowed to exit vehicles at drop off until we begin unloading vehicles at 7:50. (Refer to Car Rider arrival information located above)
Pick up information:
- Pick up for BAC students will be at Door #7 (back lot) between 3:00-6:00 PM.
- Please call when you arrive and a BAC staff member will bring your child to your car.
