Last Day of School
This year the last day of school falls on Wednesday, June 23. On Wednesdays this year, with minimal exceptions, students have been learning from home. That will again be the case on the last day of school -- a half day of school (9AM-Noon) will be held for all students, virtually.
We know that for our primary grade students (K-2), learning has not been virtual for several months. All K-2 students will be taking home their device on Tuesday, June 22nd so they can connect virtually on Wednesday and enjoy them all summer long. They will return with the students in the fall.
This will not be 3 hours of straight academic Zooming; your child's class will connect at 9 am (no late start that day). Then we will have a whole school send off at 11:30. Look for more information from your classroom teacher.
Internet Hotspots
Hello Artondale families,
As we get closer to the end of the year, it is important we start inventory of all our digital devices. If you have checked out an internet hotspot please continue to use if needed. If it is not needed anymore for student school work, please return it to Artondale Elementary at your earliest convenience. However, the deadline to return the hotspot at the end of the year will be Monday, June 28th. Please contact Cindy Faker at fakerc@psd401.net or 253-530-1121. Thank you for all of your support this year.
Summer Meals!
Help us name Charly's friends...
Please help us name Charly's fish friends by voting for your favorite name. Last week's Blue Glofish was named "Bubbles". Check back each week for a new fish.
Highly Capable Services Summer Referral and Testing information
If you missed referring any students who you think might benefit from cluster or self-contained Highly Capable services, there will be an opportunity for summer testing for students who have not been referred in the last 9 months. With the consideration of a number of factors including less time in person for all grades, remote learning, and lack of universal screeners, we are amending our usual policy to include testing this summer for current students instead of just those new to the area. We anticipate there will be a few options for summer testing dates to accommodate social distancing. Teachers and families should fill out the form now referring for summer testing which would have results before the 2021-22 school year begins.

Kindergarten Registration is OPEN!!
~ If you have already registered for Kindergarten, please remember our Kindergarten Orientation Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 3rd @5pm. Also, please complete our Incoming Kindergarten Parent/Guardian Questionnaire form. Thank you!
Welcome, Kindergarteners! Online Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open in the Peninsula School District.
Registering early allows you to find out about all of the transition activities we have planned in the spring and summer! To register, you will need to upload the following documents or turn them in to your child’s school:
Proof of residency, like a utility bill;
Student birth certificate; and
Student immunization records.
In order to enroll your child for Kindergarten, they must be 5 years old by August 31. Enrollment must be completed online.
Go to psd401.net/registration to begin the online process. Families may contact any of our schools to schedule a time to stop in to use a Chromebook if you do not have a device, have connectivity issues, or need support completing the form.
The Peninsula School District is planning to offer full-day Kindergarten, 5 days a week at all elementary schools in the fall. Registering your child early offers the best opportunity to receive communication about summertime school events and to receive Kindergarten specific information.
Don't forget...tomorrow's Fun Friday
Otter Fun Friday!
Upcoming Fun Fridays
Friday, June 18th
Choir Video!
This video will bring a smile! 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders from around the district participated in this choir project.
Splash Ticket Winners!
Every day students are able to earn a splash ticket by demonstrating our school wide expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Teachers collect the splash tickets in their classrooms and then once a week they bring the tickets and put them in our grade level buckets. Every Friday we create a video recording of Mrs. Mathews, Mr. Heistand, or Mrs. Rosendahl pulling a ticket from each grade level bucket. We send the recording to classroom teachers who play the video in their classrooms for students to see during morning announcements.
Here are this week's splash ticket winners:
Kinder - Alethia from Mrs. Vela's class
1st grade - Harper from Mrs. Wilcox's class
2nd grade - Tate from Ms. McCoy's class
3rd grade - Sawyer from Mrs. Kranich's class
4th grade - Ruby from Ms. Page's class
5th grade - Lawson from Mrs. Knight's class
Way to go Otters! Keep up the great work and we are excited to see who's name will be drawn next week!

Mask Guide
As students arrive daily we ask that they have their nose and mouth covered. With more students on campus, we are noticing more students wearing neck gaiters. The recommendations from the CDC is that they are two-layered. Please read the guidelines below:
