Special Messages
A Message From Your PTA President - Click here to read about Cobb MS PTA.
Technology and Internet Safety Program - Cobb PTA has given us the exciting opportunity to bring speaker Katie Greer to our campus this year. Mrs. Greer will present an internet safety program to all students next Tuesday, February 3rd at 8:45 a.m. Katie’s “unique presentation style combined with her extensive experience with online safety, privacy, exploitation, technology and social networking enable her to easily engage any audience, and keep their attention.” Learn more about Mrs. Greer’s presentation.
Mrs. Greer will also offer a parent presentation at Cobb Middle school. This program will be presented on February 1st from 11:30-12:30 in the Cobb Library. We hope that you will come join us for this program as well. If you are able to come, please RSVP for the presentation.
MyPaymentsPlus Intel PC Give-Away - MyPaymentsPlus is pleased to announce that they will be giving away an Intel® Classmate PC – Convertible to one lucky family, simply for using MyPaymentsPlus! The giveaway period is already underway and will run through February 14th. MPP will have information available for parents via social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) as well as an email to those who allow MPP marketing emails. As with any giveaway, there is no purchase necessary to be eligible, and they can also send in a post card with what they love about MyPaymentsPlus and can be entered in the drawing. We have included that piece of information on the email as well. Check out this flyer for more information on how to win!
Library Club Read-a-Thon - The Cobb Library Club is hosting our 4th Annual Read-a-Thon event to raise funds for charity. Cobb students voted to use the funds raised to buy new books for children who are served at the food pantry at Frisco Family Services and to buy new books for the library at the Student Opportunity Center. Our goal is to raise at least $2,000. At the Hunger Games themed Read-a-Thon, students will read anything they want for four hours by flashlight in tents and during reading breaks compete with other "districts" in crazy games and competitions throughout an evening filled with books, laughter, and lots of snacks! The event is hosted by Librarian Mary Virginia Meeks and staffed by Cobb administrators and fun teachers, as well as some amazing high school volunteers who will serve as District Mentors. We will begin accepting completed permission forms, pledge sheet, and $10 for evening meals/snacks in the library ON Thursday, February 4th. NOTE: Event is limited to the first 70 students to turn in their packets. We will start accepting forms at 7:45 on Feb. 4 and, based on past Read-a-Thons sign-ups, we anticipate being full before noon. Students will be wait-listed after spots are filled.
FCA Weekend of Champions - FCA will host its annual sports camp February 26-28. Registration is open now and ends February 5th. Visit the DFW FCA website to sign up. Feel free to email Coach Young for more information.
Lost and Found - The Lost and Found is located along the back wall of the cafeteria. All misplaced items of clothing, lunchboxes, pencil bags, etc. should be brought to this location if found. However, lost phones, tablets, jewelry or other valuables should be turned into Mrs. Mecom in the Assistant Principals' office. Unclaimed items in the Lost and Found will be donated at the end of each six-week marking period.
