HTM News and Events | April 2017
A Note from our Head of School
Dear HTM Family,
We are all looking forward to a very busy spring at school...check out our "Calendar and Events" section of this Trillium if you need proof! There are a lot of things going on and we want to be sure you don't miss out on anything, so please make sure you read through this newsletter carefully.
As you are aware, two of our beloved teachers will be leaving HTM after the conclusion of this school year. Cara Erbe, Lower Elementary Lead Teacher, will be heading to Colorado with her family to start a new season as a resident of the Rockies, while Molly Fox, our Primary B teacher, will be starting a new season of her own with her sweet new baby. While we are so sad to lose these amazing teachers and friends, we're overjoyed for both of them to chase their dreams. We will be celebrating with a Farewell Party for Cara and a Baby Shower for Molly later this month, so be on the lookout for flyers with more info soon.
We also want to remind you of our upcoming Parent Education seminar with Dr. Goodlad from Southeast Psych (see details below). This will be a great opportunity to learn how to wisely use and navigate technology with our kids in these modern times.
Finally, we are all so excited that our Spring Celebration events are just a few weeks away! We do want to announce an important update: We have decided to postpone our Family Fun Run at this time. While we are 100% on board with the run, we made the choice to focus our energy for Saturday, May 6 on our Blessing Ceremony and Celebration Festival. We are excited to host the run at a later date and we appreciate your understanding.
Thank you for your excitement and enthusiasm as we head into the home stretch of the school year! Have a wonderful Easter holiday and a great April!
HTM Night at Chipotle: Fundraiser Results
We also want to honor Melanie West for coordinating this fundraiser for our school. Thank you Melanie for taking the initiative to organize this event!
VIP of the Month
We are especially thankful that Jen has stepped up to coordinate many of the games and events for our May celebration. She has contributed many hours of brainstorming, participating in meetings, and preparing for the big day - with more to come in the approaching weeks. We will all get to enjoy the fruits of her efforts in May! Thank you Jen for all you do for Holy Trinity Montessori!
Upcoming Parent Lecture
Dr. Goodlad specializes in evaluating children to determine cognitive and intellectual abilities (IQ), academic achievement testing and learning differences, ADHD, and disruptive behavior disorders as well as empirically-supported evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using “gold standard” measures. In addition to assessment James also enjoys helping children build skills and self-efficacy in behavior management, social skills, and social problem-solving. Dr. Goodlad received a B.S. in Psychology and History from Belmont University and a Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi.
After the conclusion of the lecture, please stay for light refreshments and conversation with other attendees. We look forward to hearing from Dr. Goodlad and we encourage you to invite guests to join you for this fantastic Parent Education opportunity.
Your Body Rocks: A Mother/Daughter Workshop
Attention Moms of 4th-8th Graders! In a world where young girls are bombarded with so many mixed signals, would you like the opportunity to strengthen your bond with your daughter and encourage her to have a positive body image?
Join us for a special fun and interactive workshop with Dr. Lauren King, psychologist and body image specialist, on Saturday, April 22 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. This class is a great opportunity to open valuable lines of communication with your daughter.
This event, hosted by our friends at Village Barre, is free and opened to the public. Space is limited so make sure you register to reserve your spot. If you have taken a class at Village Barre you may log in on their website to register. Otherwise please email email@example.com to sign up. We hope to see many of you there!
Reminders about our Spring Musical
- Please send your child to school in full costume for a morning DRESS REHEARSAL
- Please also send a regular school outfit to change into after rehearsal.
- Send your child to school in regular school clothing. We will run through the performance but not in costume.
- We will have an EARLY DISMISSAL at 11am. Classrooms will be closing and our campus will not be open for sharing at this time.
- We encourage you to consider your child's needs. If you have toddlers or primary students who nap, we strongly recommend you keep their typical nap schedule, as it will be a long day and we want them to be happy and well-rested for the evening performance. If you have older children, this may be a good opportunity for them to spend quality time with their special guests who are visiting for the weekend.
- Performance call time for all students is 4:00 PM. Send your child in full costume with hair and makeup finished and with any other required props. Please plan to drop them off in the circle drive just like you do for morning drop-offs - our staff will be on hand to receive your child.
- After the performance, our campus will be open and your children may take their special guests to visit their classrooms.
