Reading
This week we learned about fables and the moral/lesson learned from the story. Our focus strategy is sequencing which we will revisit next week too. The students created their own Padlet posting using new vocabulary words from the story What About Me? Friday is testing day so expect your child to show you his or her test score from Reading Street. Today we tested on the CCR week 2 test whole group. The students are doing a great job transitioning into our guided reading groups and Daily 5 rotations.
Math
In math we learned to play Toss & Talk which is a multiplication game that helps us learn our multiplication facts. We are learning about rows, columns, arrays, and products. All of the students took their first multiplication timed test. We will continue to take these 2-3 times a week to help learn our facts.
Social Studies
The students continue to learn about maps and reading directions by using a compass rose. Next week the students will start designing their own town map.

News From Mrs. Boskey
Our classroom will be participating in Social and Emotional Learning, SEL lessons, with our School Social Worker, Mrs. Boskey. This is an opportunity for Mrs. Boskey to come into the classroom approximately once a month. We will be working with the students to encourage building social skills, skills for learning, problem solving skills, and emotional management.
Please feel free to contact myself or Mrs. Boskey if you have any questions.
Dot Day
Today was International Dot Day and we all made our dot in the library on a giant poster. Then in our class we each designed our own dot masterpiece! Nice job third graders! If you've never heard of Dot Day ask your child to summarize what happened in the story The Dot by Peter Reynolds.
