Book of the Month - Ricky Sticky Fingers
Book of the Month is a school-wide initiative to build a learning community of readers and writers. Sharing one story every month helps unite our school community.
Each month, all of our children will hear the same book together. Children will discuss it in school with their teachers and classmates. Then, they will also read it again, and share their conversations with their families. The classroom book will go home with one child each night. It will rotate through the class until each child has had a chance to read and discuss the book with their family.
The books we will read each month will connect to our monthly character traits. Some of these include respect, responsibility, citizenship, and more. Books can lead to great discussions with our children. We LOVE reading books together!
Now that you know all about Book of the Month, don’t forget to ask your child about the new book every month and keep an eye out for it in your child’s backpack! Encourage your child to share their thoughts with you and your family.
Second Step
Second Step lessons specifically teach these friendship skills. You will be receiving Home Links describing why friendship skills are important and including fun activities to do with your child to help him or her learn and practice the skills.

2023-2024 Kindergarten Registration
Welcome to the Pottsgrove School District! We are so excited to welcome your son/daughter into our kindergarten program for the 2023-2024 school year! The online portal for registration will open on February 6, 2023. Please do not attempt to register prior to February 6, 2023. Kindergarten students need to be age 5 prior to September 1, 2023, to be registered.
You will need to upload the appropriate documentation to complete the registration process. The documents needed are: proof of residency (any two of the following - deed or current mortgage statement or lease, current utility bills, current credit card bill, property tax bill, vehicle registration, driver's license or Dept. of Transportation identification card), up-to-date immunizations for the child, proof of the child's age (birth certificate; notarized copy of the birth certificate; baptismal certificate; copy of the record of baptism - notarized or duly certified and showing the date of birth; notarized statement from the parents or another relative indicating the date of birth; a valid passport; a prior school record indicating the date of birth) of the child.
Copies of these documents should be uploaded to the registration portal, or you may send them directly to studentregistration@pgsd.org if you’re having trouble uploading them to the portal. Please put your student’s name in the subject line when emailing these documents to us.
* Note - If these documents are not submitted to the Registration Department, your child will not be fully registered with Pottsgrove School District and this will cause a delay in the Registration process.
The Pottsgrove School District is committed to providing you and your son or daughter a smooth transition into our kindergarten program. If you have any questions please contact student registration at studentregistration@pgsd.org or 610-327-2277 Ext 1045.
Please click the following registration link to begin registering your kindergarten student for the 2023-2024 school year: Kindergarten Registration Link to Online Portal
Kindergarten screening will take place in mid-July for both Ringing Rocks and West Pottsgrove Elementary Schools. Screenings are a helpful tool in the class roster development process but please note that students will still be placed on a kindergarten class roster if they are unable to attend a screening session. Your child's principal will reach out with more information regarding kindergarten screening closer to the date.

REMINDER: FIRST DAY PACKET AND POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL
To date, we have only had 87 of our first-day packets completed. Please see the reminder information below to help us stay connected!
First-Day Packet:
The online First Day Packet for the upcoming school year became available via the Powerschool Parent Portal at noon on Monday, August 15th. The system is a secure and green process that allows the district to verify all demographic, emergency, and medical information for your child for the start of the new school year. The system also allows you to electronically sign most annual permission forms and indicate that you received and reviewed other informational materials.
The electronic First Day Packet must be accessed through the Powerschool Parent Portal. If you have previously created your single sign-on parent portal account, simply log in and click on the First Day Packet 22-23 icon in the left-hand navigation bar. (Please note that parents will not be able to access the First Day Packet if logging in using the “student” username and password.) You will need to add new school age children to your existing account by going to Account preferences and selecting the “Students” tab. If you do not remember your self-selected ID and password, please email pgsdparentportal@pgsd.org for further assistance.
The parent portal can be accessed directly from our district website or by accessing the following web address: https://powerschool.pgsd.org/public.
If you are NEW to the Parent Portal, please select the Create Account button on the portal login screen to begin to set up your New Single Sign-On account. This will allow you to access the information for every Pottsgrove student in your household with a single ID and password of your choice. You will need the temporary confidential ID and password coming to you in postal mail in order to create your new account. If you already have an account, you may disregard the temporary ID that will be included in that mailing.
The Parent Portal opened and the electronic First Day Packet went live on Monday, August 15 at noon. We appreciate all families taking action and completing these forms online as soon as possible if you have not already. Your student’s First Day Packet will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. For those families who used the system last year, for your convenience, we have pre-populated most of the forms including the most recent medical and emergency contact information we have on record.
Please take the time to carefully review and update this section, as needed, for each child. It is critically important that this information is accurate. Any changes to phone numbers, texts, and emails will be automatically updated in our Blackboard Communication system so that you will continue to receive school/district communications without interruption.
