Highlights From Last Week....
A peek at our learning this week...
In Reader's Workshop, we will learn what Reader's Workshop is and what it will look like in our classroom. We will also look at the different ways to read. We will practice retelling stories that were read to us by looking at the picture.
In Math, we will work on classifying items based on their attributes. We will answer questions like, why do things look different and how are they the same?
In Fundations, we will be practicing letter and sounds for the letters t, b and f. We will be learning the sight words "go" and "see", please practice these words at home.
In Social Studies, we will learn about friendship and learn ways to become good friends ourselves!
Notes from Mrs. Maillet
Book Orders:
I will be placing the book orders on Wednesday, September 21st. The orders went home last week, please return them by Wednesday, September 21st.
Reading at Home:
Great job working with your child on their reading! The more you read, the better their vocabulary will be and the more they will be able to understand stories! Keep up the great work!!
Pete and Mystery Can started their journeys home this week. The kids LOVE hearing the clues and reading about Pete's adventures. The children are practicing their speaking and listening skills through these activities. It is so much fun! Thank you for your participation.
Volunteers:
If you would like to volunteer in my classroom, please let me know! I could use all the extra hands!!! Thank you!
I have attached a video of our week below. Also, we learned how to read by looking at the pictures. Take a look at one of our friends reading a story!
Thank you for all that you do!!! Keep up the great work!!
Notes from Miss Bickford
Book orders are due Wednesday, September 21st. Also, please remember that we will have a half day on Wednesday as well.
Thank you so much for sending in school supplies, it was a great help!

Our Scholastic book order is due Wednesday, September 21st. You can order on line at scholastic by using the class room code. You can find that at the top of the letter and on front of book order form. If you would like me to order, send back the flyer with a check made out to scholastic and I will be happy to do that for you. This is a great way to have wonderful books at home that are inexpensive.
Reminders: Monday is gym. (Wear sneakers)
Tuesday is art.
Wednesday is a half day of school. Noon dismissal. Lunch is served.
Thursday is library.
Friday is guidance.
Volunteers: I love to have help. Photo coping, cutting out things, putting books together, sitting and listening to students letter naming, counting numbers and a lot more. If you are interested , please fill out a Cori form with the front office and let me know. Some things I can send home and you send back.
Thank you to the families that have helped with classroom supplies. I do have a wish list: Clorox wipes, tissues that are in a box that is shared with whole class and ziplock bags of any size.
Maybe next week, I can figure out how to put some pictures on this news letter!
Notes from Mrs. Melanson
Book Orders:
My Scholastic book orders are due on Friday, September 23rd. You may order online at scholastic by using the classroom code at the top of the letter I had attached to the front of the book order, or you may order by sending me back the flyer with a check written to Scholastic.
If you are looking for a school breakfast and lunch menu, you may find it on our website under the Parent tab on the top of the page. I will send a menu home at the beginning of each month. I will also send home new reading log at the beginning of each month. I am thrilled to see all the great reading going on at home!
Reminders:
Please label your child's backpack, lunch box, etc. as many students have similar ones and are easily confused. If you have notes about dismissal changes, please put them in your child's red folder. I check folders each morning.
Volunteers:
I am happy to have volunteers in the classroom. If you are interested, please fill out a cori form with the front office and let me know!
Thank you:
Thank you for all the supply donations! They will come in handy throughout the school year! Also, thank you for your patience as we opened a brand new school and had to live it for a few days to know what worked and what needed changes. Busing and pick-ups were going smoother by the end of the week. Your children are amazing and I am excited to help them learn and grow over the school year!
