Weekly Check In
Week 2
Hello Renbrook students!
I hope you had a wonderful first week back at school! I know this style of learning might have been difficult or challenging at times, but after week one, hopefully you were put at ease once you saw distance learning in action. For my part, I noticed some fantastic opportunities that I might not have otherwise. I'm able to speak with students more often, and even host grade level wide lunch bunch groups! I also love being able to see into your world and be shown some of the things you're most proud of at home.
While there certainly have been some exciting moments, this is still a stressful time for many of us. It might be showing up at night when you're trying to fall asleep, making your muscles tense, or possibly affecting your appetite. Either way, it is essential that you address if you are feeling stressed and then decide how you will manage it.
“Social distancing” during Coronavirus can impact your routine and regular de-stressers in your life like seeing friends, playing team sports, and going out. Social isolation can lead to low energy levels and decreased optimism. How can you add exercise, fresh air, social interactions (online or in person), and/or mindful moments to your current stay-at-home routine? Try to think of at least three things you can do this week to de-stress. Plan what you will do, where/how you will do it, and when it will take place.
Here are mine:
1. Go for a run at least twice this week. I will go outside and run before school starts and breathe in some fresh air!
2. I will schedule a Zoom hangout with some of my best friends that I grew up with for Friday night. We will plan on doing this around 8pm once our children are all in bed (hopefully)!
3. I will spend some time painting with my kids on Monday afternoon. We will try some new materials to use such as brushes and I can talk to them about the different effects that they have on the paper!
Good luck this week and remember- we got this!
