Things to Be Aware of:
- Thank you for participating in this trimester's Parent and Teacher Conferences. We hope that you found them to be helpful and were able to see some of the great things your child is doing here at Rocky Mountain! To help us continually improve, please complete this Parent Survey (click this link or complete above) regarding your experience this trimester. For your information, our next Parent and Teacher Conferences will be Wednesday, April 18.
Parents of College Bound 8th Graders: Has your child completed and turned in an application for the Idaho Fall’s Mayor’s Promise Scholarship? This unique award targets students with a 3.0 – 3.5 GPA, who have been involved in school and community activities while demonstrating excellent citizenship and future promise. It is a great way for students to start building up their college funds, get experience in the scholarship application process, and start a college/scholarship application file. Students are required to write an essay and get a letter of recommendation. Applications can be accessed online at mayorsscholarshipfund.org or from Mrs. Bone in the Counseling Center at Rocky Mountain Middle School. Applications are due back to Mrs. Bone by 2:24 on February 7, 2018. For more information contact Mrs. Bone at RMMS.
- This Friday, students will have the opportunity to be gone from school for the day to ski at Kelly Canyon. A permission slip, fee sheet, and liability form can be picked up by students from Mrs. Belnap in the office. By clicking on the links provided, you can also print the sheets from home, fill them out, and have your child return them. All fees need to be paid and forms returned before Wednesday of this week. Space is limited as there will only be one bus. A student's grades need to be C's or better by Tuesday to attend as well. Students that would like to go, but do not want to ski, are still welcome to attend; they will just pay the busing fee and complete the permission slip and fee sheet. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Mr. Jeff Kenly, one of our teachers, or Mrs. Kalli Belnap, our bookkeeper.
- Several scientists and colleagues at the INL will be piloting a new "Girls Who Code" club here at RMMS, the only school in our region to receive such an opportunity! The club will be meeting on Wednesdays after school with the program running about 10 weeks overall. If all goes well, they will restart the program and run trimester to trimester. Since this will be a new pilot program, if you have a daughter that would be interested in learning more about digital coding and programming, have them talk with a teacher on their team for a nomination.
