U.S. Census Information

The U.S. census — a once in 10-year count of U.S. residents — determines how and where federal funding will be spent over the next decade. For each person counted in St. Mary's County, we receive more than $18,250 in federal funds, which pay for our schools, public services, and many other programs that directly impact our community. The self-response period for Census 2020 will be ending September 30th. Visit www.my2020census.gov or call into 1-844-330-2020 (English) 1-844-468-2020 to fill out the census form.

Reminder - Meal Benefit Application

Make sure to submit a new meal benefit application each year - your meal benefit form helps with school funding and could help waive or discount your AP, ACT, or SAT fees! Visit http://myschoolapps.com to complete online!

All Children May Get Free Breakfast and Lunch Through December 31, 2020

As a result of waiver extensions from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), effective immediately, breakfast and lunch will be offered to all children 18 years of age and under free of charge until December 31, 2020, at all St. Mary’s County Public School locations.

Starting Wednesday, September 9, 2020, drive-through meal service will be available each week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at each school site. Message from the School Nurses Regarding Student Medication

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Due to the limitation of outside visitors to the school building, we are requesting that you or your child’s health care provider email or fax all medication orders to the nurses prior to your student returning to the building for in-person instruction.

Each school year, we must receive a completed PS 109 form (Physician/Prescriber Authorization- Medication orders) prior to the administration of any medication at school. This also applies to students who will be self-carrying their emergency medications (Asthma Inhalers, and EpiPen/Benadryl).

Once we receive the completed PS 109, we will contact you to arrange a time to meet you outside of the building to pick up the medication. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions. Thank you.

The Fall Return to School Survey

Students will be expected to return to the school building, based on the chart below. However, you have the choice to keep your student working 100% online. Please complete the Fall 2020 Return to School Survey for each of your children enrolled in school to indicate if you want your students in the building or to continue working 100% online. More information about these choices is in this survey.

Senior Portraits

The next round of photos will be September 23-25. Lifetouch has mailed out appointment cards this week to seniors.

From Lifetouch:

In an effort to create a safe environment for you and others during your photography

session, we are requiring that appointments be scheduled and confirmed online at

least 48 hours prior to your visit. We also strongly encourage you to pay online to

minimize contact during your session. Unfortunately, no walk-in or unconfirmed

appointments can be accommodated. Each senior is limited to bringing one additional

person to their session when photographed outside of school hours. We look forward to

creating great memories for you at this special time.
