Two Big Derby Preps this Weekend

Our Facebook page will be updated all weekend long with our official picks and updates for these two races. Check out our page and let us know who you think is going to win.

Revolutionary Will Take on a Full Field in the Louisiana Derby

The winner of the Gotham Stakes, Revolutionary will lead a full field of 14 colts in the Louisiana Derby this weekend. Revolutionary currently only holds a meager 10 points in the new qualifying system for the Kentucky Derby, but a first or second place finish in Louisiana will pretty much guarantee a spot in the starting gate at Churchill the first Saturday in May. Newcomer to the derby seen Departing (8-1) will be making his derby trail debut coming in with three straight wins including a two turn win at Fair Grounds . Code West (9-2) and Palace Malice (5-1) top the board behind Revolutionary in the Morning line odds.

As always we will have our sheets and calculation available Friday evening that will break down the race in more detail along with our official picks. Check out our Facebook page all weekend for up to date information coming out of Louisiana.

Florida Derby Will Showcase Return of Shanghai Bobby

Breeders Cup champion Shanghai Bobby will have a shot at a rematch with ItsMyLuckyDay this weekend in a field of 10 for the Florida Derby. This weekend marks the beginning of the 100 point races for Kentucky Derby qualifying. At this point neither Bobby or LuckyDay have enough Derby points to be locked into the starting gate in May, but finishing either first or second this weekend will surely guarantee them a spot.

Joining the two favorites will be Fountain of Youth Stakes winner Orb who already has 50 points coming off a three race winning streak and a spot in the gate in Kentucky. These three horses will surely take the majority of the money on Saturday and will be fighting for those precious points in the Derby standings. Another interesting horse in this race is Merit Man who ran second to Shanghai Bobby in the Breeders cup. Merit Man will be taking his first look at two turns this weekend.

As always, check back on Friday night for our official picks for the big races this Saturday.
