Mrs. Drudy's COVID-19 e-Learning
March 16, 2020
Day #1 Agenda
Good morning, and welcome students and families to the first of five e-Learning days prompted by the Coronavirus preventative measures put in place here at Liberty Elementary School! Hopefully, you will find these activities both fun and easy to do. Please, though, do not hesitate to reach out to me during the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. if you have questions or concerns about the assignments and/or activities. As you've already noticed, hard copies have been distributed for nearly all of the activities.
So let's get started on our first Coronavirus eLearning Day!!!!!!
Morning Message
Obviously, you do not have your whiteboard nor your task journal at home, so simply read the Morning Message and complete the tasks on any piece of paper...even on the back of a junk mail envelope is fine with me, as I do not need you to return this to me.
Big Idea:
We can read grade-level appropriate or higher texts smoothly and accurately, with expression that connotes comprehension at the independent level.
Reading / Language Arts
Read the leveled reader and answer the questions that were folded inside the book. Also, choose 1 activity from the from the Vocabulary Choice Menu. You will eventually do a total of five for the week.
Spelling
Use the Spelling Activity Menu and choose 1 activity to practice your spelling words. Simply complete these on any paper. Along with the activity menu is a list of this week's words. By week's end you should have completed five of these activities.
Big Idea:
We can spell correctly common, proper, possessive, and collective nouns, irregular plural nouns, and personal and possessive pronouns.
Math: Spiral Review

Mathin' Down the Trail

Remember, there are several things you complete every day in your Iditarod Data Binder. These items include:
- List the last checkpoint (s)he visited and chart miles traveled and miles to go on your Musher's Tracking Sheet.
- List the Daily Standings by listing the Top 10 each morning.
- If you have a QR code reader, find the weather at your checkpoint. This information can also be found at www.noaa.gov, but you will need to manually type in your checkpoint name (or its nearest town/village). Fill in the temperature in degrees Celsius on your bar graph. If this task proves too difficult because you are unable to access without a QR code reader, then please skip this portion of the data gathering.
- Also on the Race Standings tab scroll all the way to the bottom to find out who has scratched. List these items, too, on your Scratched page. (If you were absent on Friday, you may not have this page.)
Big Idea:
I can solve simple addition, subtraction, and comparison problems using information shown on a graph.
Big Idea:
I can solve real-world problems involving addition and subtraction within 100 by using pictures, words, and/or a number sentence to solve.
Social Studies: Scholastic News!
Read the magazine Scholastic News: The Clean Water Warrior that was sent home on Friday.
Read to find out how Mari identified a problem and then worked to solve it.
Related Arts
P.E.: Students should choose one activity from the P.E. Activity menu for each e-Learning Day.
Art/Music: Please review optional activity instructions included in the bag that went home Friday.
Don't forget to end your day with our special song, "What A Wonderful World."
