Report Cards

We will hand out a paper copy of the report card on Monday, January 10th. Please see the below example to better understand and communicate.


  • If students exceeds 8 absences in any class, they lose credit regardless of the grade.
  • If students have an 11 in the exam column, it means he/she did not take the exam and needs to schedule a time with his/her teacher to complete the exam. The semester exam needs to be completed January 21st.

Big picture

COVID Notification (Please see attached at the bottom of the newsletter)

1. The District, along with CDC, strongly recommends wearing a mask.

2. On campus, we continue to follow cleaning and safety protocols.

3. If you have questions/concerns related to COVID, please reach out to Deb Rakestraw, our school nurse at 397-7109 or Deborah.Rakestraw@nisd.net

4. If you child is absent and it is COVID related, please contact the attendance office at 397-7111. Teachers will continue to provide materials in Schoology for students to access if they are unable to come to school.

Student Device

NISD is a 1 to 1 device district. If your child does not have a computer, please reach out to Aaron Arevalo at Aaron.Arevalo@nisd.net to provide your child with his/her own computer.


Students should have a device and charger with them at school. The device should also travel home with them every evening, so they are always prepared for school.


*For the next few weeks, teachers will increase the use of Schoology for assignments due to higher absenteeism.

Attendance Recovery

As of now, there will no longer be attendance recovery offered in person at Marshall. Students can complete attendance recovery by following these steps:


1. Students need to sign into their NISD Portal.

2. Find and Click on the Homework Hotline Tile

3. Have them fill out the digital form

4. It will take them to a live Chat Agent that will assign them an AR Room if they do not need tutoring OR a tutor if they need assistance with an assignment.

5. Our AR Monitors are very strict and all students MUST agree to and follow our rules or they will be released.

Juniors and Seniors

Lunch stickers for the new 9 weeks will be distributed before school in the Cafeteria beginning Tuesday, January 11 thru Friday, Jan 14, 2022. Grades and attendance along with parent permission form will be checked in order to qualify for an off-campus lunch sticker.

Course Selection for 2022-23

Counselors will meet individually with current 9th - 11th grade students to review their graduation plan and credits earned through the first semester in their English classes beginning January 18th.


The schedule will be as follows:

January 18- 21st - English 3 classes;

January 24th -28th - English 2 classes;

January 31st - February 4th - English 1 classes.


Students will select their courses for the 2022-2023 school year in mid-February.

Library


The Northside Library Palooza, an author festival for teens, will be held February 26 at Brandeis High School. The event is free and open to the public. The authors joining us this year are: Neal Shusterman, Ruta Sepetys, Nic Stone,and Traci Chee. Details can be found at :https://www.librarypaloozasa.org
