Connection Suggestions for Rising 7th and 8th graders
All Coleman Middle School students will be allowed to suggest the connection classes they
would like to take for the 2019- 2020 school year. All students are required to take at
least one arts class during the school year; the art classes are noted with an (*) on the
sign up form.
Every effort will be made to place students in ONE of their top choices.
**Please note – a sufficient number of interested students are required for some
classes to be offered. Therefore, some classes may not be offered if enough students do not express an interest. All classes are first come first serve.
We hope to honor all suggestions. If we cannot students will be assigned to connection classes, and these classes will not be changed.
Connection suggestions open Friday, February 22 at 5:00pm and close Friday, March 1 at 5:00pm.

3rd quarter PBL showcases...PARENTS - WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Coleman Middle School will be hosting our third quarter PBL (Project Based Learning) showcases during the months of February and March. Coleman students and teachers have been busy conducting their PBL launches this month. Our students would appreciate your input and feedback on their final prototypes and projects on the dates and times listed below. Feel free to invite any of your colleagues to attend our events. We have included the grade level driving question along with the dates and times. Please follow the links below to the Google form to sign-up for a showcase. 6th and 7th grade will hold the traditional showcase this quarter, but our 8th grade will hold three dates of "trials" with actual Gwinnett County judges and will need volunteers to sit as our jury members. We will be hosting an "Everything You Need to Know" about a showcase for 6th and 7th grade in the Coleman Media Center. Please attend if this is your first time coming to a showcase or if you just want to know how to give meaningful feedback to our students. Please note that some of our start times have changed from the past.

Gwinnett County Special Election, March 19
One of our most important civic responsibilities is participation in the electoral process. The next opportunity to vote in Gwinnett County is on March 19 when voters will go to the polls to consider expansion of the County’s transit options through a contract with MARTA. As the deadline to register to vote in Gwinnett County (or make changes to an existing registration) is Feb. 19 and advance voting begins on Feb. 25, it is important for citizens to be informed about the topic, how to register to vote, and voting.
Citizens can register by mail, online, or in many public buildings, including Gwinnett schools and the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center in Suwanee.
On the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, log on to My Voter Page for voter registration status, mail-in application and ballot status, polling locations, and more. (Go mobile for election info and registration with the GA Votes app, available for Apple and Android.)
Here are four ways to vote in the Special Election— three in-person options and one by mail:
· Advance voting at the county’s election headquarters (located 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, in Lawrenceville)—Feb. 25-March 15, seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
· Advance voting at seven satellite locations around the county— March 4-15, seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
· Election Day voting: Tuesday, March 19, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at assigned polling locations.
· Absentee voting— Apply for an official absentee ballot through March 15. A completed application must be received before an absentee ballot can be issued. To request an application by mail or fax, visit www.gwinnettelections.com, or contact the Voter Registrations and Elections Division at (678) 226-7210.
