Career Center Update
Last month the career center hosted a job fair for BHS students. We were thrilled with the turn out as close to 40 students met with potential employers. The career center will be working closely with the employers, who attended, to track all student applicants they choose to contact from BHS. The goal is to prepare those students with a solid resume and strong interviewing skills, prior to their next encounter with their desired, prospective employer.
Additionally, the Career Center, in coordination with the YMCA, has been bringing in guest speakers each Tuesday for the past few months (pictures below). Students have met with representatives from politics, gaming, engineering, electrical trade, and financial services. Students who are interested should talk to their Mentor Monday teachers for more information.
Upcoming speakers include:
May 7 - Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge - The Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge promotes and produces stock car racing events in New England.
May 14 - Dell
May 28 - CVS Health
From the Athletic Director's Desk
I hope everyone enjoyed their April vacation and now, with the homestretch upon us, I wanted to shore up some year end and Fall Sports information.
For our Spring Sport teams, the Athletic Department will host our Spring Sports Awards night on Monday, June 3rd @ 6 pm. This event presents Varsity Letters and two team awards along with a brief team music video.
Additionally, on the same night but beginning @ 7:15 pm, the Athletic Department will host a combined 2019-20 Sports Overview Night and Meet the Fall Coach. This night is held annually to update student-athletes & their parents on the MIAA/School rules surrounding athletic participation and expectations for summer workouts. If you are planning on being a BHS student-athlete during the 2019-20 school year (Fall/Winter/Spring), attendance by the student-athlete and a parent is expected.
Registration for Fall Sports opens on FamilyID on May 1. As usual, we will offer a $50 discount for student-athletes who register AND PAY between May 1 and the last day of school. The link to register is https://www.familyid.com/organizations/bellingham-high-school-athletics

Good morning parents of the Class of 2019,
Please be on the look out for a permission slip coming home with your senior for participation in Op Grad. These must be signed and returned to the school office please. No student can attend without the permission slip and waivers signed. There is important information for both parents and students to review to ensure a fun and safe night for everyone.
It's hard to believe that graduation is just over a month away!! We are in the final stages of planning a great night for the seniors and the end of that will be a slide show for them. The group working on it has graciously extended the submission deadline to May 15 in hopes of getting Disney pictures and prom pictures submitted as well. As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking and we are fortunate to have a couple of parents who are willing to work on it. However, we can not do this without pictures supplied by you!! We need a BABY picture, photos from elementary and middle school and any high school events you may have.
Pictures may be emailed to opgrad2019photos@gmail.com. Please have all submissions sent as soon as possible. Also, please include the students name, the event, the year and any other students who are in the photos. A friendly reminder that these families working on this project are volunteers and may not be able to respond as quickly as you would like to every email.
FAQ's:
1. Prom pictures and/or significant events (prom/senior sports nights) that occur after May 1 will be accepted until May 15.
2. May 15 is the ABSOLUTE deadline for submitting all other pictures, but earlier submissions are greatly appreciated!!
3. An auto reply will be sent upon receipt of your first email to opgrad2019photos@gmail.com. This is your confirmation that your email to the Bellingham High School Class of 2019 slide show email box has been received. You will only receive ONE auto reply for any emails sent. Please rest assured that if you send more photos from the same email address, they will have been received.
4. The goal is t o have a fair representation of all students, which is solely dependent on pictures submitted. Please share this email other parents/guardians of students of the Class of 2019. Students are encouraged to email pictures too!
5. Slide show will include baby pictures, elementary and middle school, as well as high school pictures.
6. We have some pictures from the elementary memory nights and the 8th grade celebration, which included pictures from BMMS.
7. The bulk of the slide show will be dedicated to the High school years.
8. There is no guarantee that all submissions will be used. Every effort will be made to avoid duplicate photos.
Any questions may be sent to the photo email address. Thank you for helping making this a wonderful slide show and a night to remember for our students. Also, it is not too late to get involved. There are still many opportunities to help, specifically the night of the big party!! Please make sure that your CORI is up to date and get your fingerprints done if you plan on chaperoning.
Thank you!
