Meet Our SRO! Officer Kevin Has Joined Our Harrison Family
My name is Kevin Nastasi and I am the School Resource Officer at Harrison Elementary School. My job is to keep the students, teachers, and staff safe during the day so that they can focus on learning and having fun.
My Family
I live in Gibbstown (Greenwich Township) where I recently retired as the town’s Police Chief. My wife, Cristie and I have two children, Marco and Nicole. Marco is a junior at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where he is studying business. He hopes to follow his mother’s footsteps by attending law school after college. Nicole is a senior at Paul VI High School. She is an accomplished hula dancer who performs throughout South Jersey. We enjoy spending our free time at the beach in Brigantine.
My Experience
I attended Gloucester County College and the Gloucester County Police Academy. I began my law enforcement career working in the Borough of Paulsboro before joining the Greenwich Township Police force in 2000. During my time with the Greenwich Township Police Department, I served as a Patrolman, Investigator, Sergeant, Captain and ultimately Chief of Police. I was also a member of the Bike Patrol Unit. In May of 2021, I participated in the Police Unity Tour, biking more than 290 miles to honor law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. Before becoming a police officer, I worked as a substitute teacher. I have been a youth and high school wrestling coach for many years.

fema resources available to families
For New Jersey residents living in Bergen, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Passaic, and Somerset Counties, individuals can apply for assistance through FEMA the following ways:
• The fastest and easiest way to apply is by visiting disasterassistance.gov/ or by downloading the FEMA App on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
• If it is not possible to apply online, call 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585). The toll-free telephone lines operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT, seven days a week. Those who use a relay service such as a videophone, InnoCaption or CapTel should update FEMA with their specific number assigned to that service.
New Jersey residents who live outside the affected counties are encouraged to continue reporting damage (residential structures only, no vehicles) from Ida as damage assessments are ongoing. Information collected in this portal will help local, state, and federal authorities better understand the location and severity of damage impacts. The NJOEM Public Damage Reporting portal is located at https://damagenj-njoem.hub.arcgis.com/.

Library Volunteers Needed
Our school Library uses parent volunteers (and grandparent, aunt or uncle volunteers) every day to help the children check out and return Library books.
No experience is necessary!
We are especially grateful for volunteers who are able to help for a full morning or afternoon (about 2 hours a week). This is a great way to help the school and especially the kids! There will be an introductory meeting on
September 27 at 11:00 in the Library
Note that the PTA is also seeking volunteers for the Fall Book Fair, but my request is for volunteers beginning as soon as possible and throughout the school year. Please contact the Library if you’d like more information before the meeting OR STOP BY THE LIBRARY on Back to School Night to sign up. If you are volunteering at the school, you need to present your vaccination card or have a negative Covid test the week you are volunteering. Masks are REQUIRED for everyone inside of the building.
