Principal's Report

A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School East

A Word From Dr. Clune

Today we sent all students to eat outside today for lunch. It was a beautiful day. We played music and all of the students had a great time. We will continue to get students outside as often as possible. Many teachers were taking their students outside throughout the day.

Tonight, is the big football game between Spring Ford and PV High School. We are strongly encouraging middle school students to attend with an adult and to stay in the stands during the football game. Please remind your child if they are attending the game that it is a school sponsored event and students are expected to behave appropriately.

Next Friday is our first Activity Night. Cost is $5 and there will be food and beverages to purchase. You need to have your clearances in if you want to chaperone. We are looking forward to a fun-filled evening. Please read Home & School update below.

Intramurals will begin soon during 10th period. We also have many clubs and activities starting up. Please check out the PVMS East website for the latest information regarding clubs/activities including advisor contact information.

We are also pleased to announce that a 4PM Academic Bus will start on October 5th and run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In addition a 5:30PM Sports Bus is running five days a week. Students were sent a link to use in order to sign up by 10AM on the day that they need transportation home. The same link can be used for both the Academic & Sports Busses. Both bus runs may be used by students who need to stay after school for clubs, activities, academic work or sports.

Use the below link to donate through PayPal, or alternatively, checks may be sent in with your child(ren) and given to their homeroom teacher. Checks can be made out to "PV Middle School East Home and School”. If each family donated $20.00, we would be able to meet our goal of $10,000. Don’t forget to add the cents to show what grade you are donating from. 6th-grade would add $0.28 to their donation; 7th-grade $0.27 and 8th-grade, $0.26.

Power Packs

If you are a family in need, PV Power Packs may be a program you wish to explore. PV Power Packs is a weekend food program for students experiencing food insecurity. Bags of food, including 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 snacks, and 2 fruits, are sent home with students prior to every weekend. There is no financial information required to participate in this program and students pick up their bags from their counselor or designated person every week. You can sign up for your student to receive a Power Packs bag by filling out this form: 2021 Power Packs or by emailing

Green Team

The Green Team is a group of students who possess a willingness to be environmental stewards at school and in their community. Green Team activities focus on conservation and sustainability. Some of our initiatives this year include setting up composting, working towards a zero-waste cafeteria, maintaining the rain garden and plant wall, and fundraising for environmental charities and projects such as 'The Lenape Arboretum and Muhlenberg Woods'. Please contact Mrs. Kate Czapla at for more information.

Art Club

Is Art Class not enough for you? Do you not have art until Vector 5? Why wait if it’s something you LOVE to do? Art Club is back and IN PERSON, Thursdays starting September 30th from 2:30-3:45 pm. Art Club is open to anyone in grades 6-8th. Past members need to re-apply this year as well.

Art Club will be working on individual portfolios by choosing a goal they would like to achieve by the end of the school year. Students will ponder this question: What Are You In Pursuit Of? Your goal could be to learn how to draw more accurately. You may want your art to fight for equality or the environment. Maybe your goal is to see your culture represented more. Whatever it is you are in pursuit of, we will work towards that goal in the Art Club with each student pursuing their passions.

Since space is limited to 30 students, Mr. Bernholdt doesn't just want Art Club to be a place where you doodle with friends, he wants the art that you create after school to mean something to the world and more importantly, you.

If you are interested, please fill out this Google Form while on your school Chromebook. Mr. Bernholdt will let you know via your school email if you have been added to the club on Google Classroom by September 26th. Check your email that Sunday and make sure you have a ride home promptly at 3:45 by the bus loading area. You may contact Mr. Bernholdt with any questions

If your child is going to be absent, late, or leave early please send an email to

ID Badges

All students are expected to wear their ID Badge during the day.

Incoming 6th Graders and New Students will receive a temporary ID card, plastic sleeve and lanyard on their first day of school. The temporary ID cards will be replaced with a permanent ID card after picture day.

Returning 7th & 8th Graders need to have their ID card, lanyard and plastic sleeve that was issued last year. Students will receive an updated ID card after picture day. There is a $2 charge to replace the lanyard and plastic sleeve. Students are welcome to have their own lanyard if they wish.

Water Bottles

Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school every day. We recommend clear plastic water bottles. We have added additional water bottle filling stations around the building. We will not be providing plastic water bottles to students. However, students will be able to purchase a water bottle during lunch and the main office will always provide a student with a cup. This is the only beverage that students are permitted to drink outside the cafeteria. Students may not drink coffee, soda, sports drinks etc. in class.
