TCU Le Center K8 May News
Dear TCU Le Center Families
We have less than a month left of school, it's really hard to believe that! These last few weeks have been filled with excitement, field trips, assessments, and experiences! I hope that our Titans are having fun, enjoying some new experiences, and are looking forward to some time off this summer!
We are celebrating our teachers this week and we have an amazing group here in Le Center! Each day, I am so thankful for the group of caring, hard-working, and personable staff that I get to work alongside! I am very thankful to be part of this team!
Another big thanks to our PTO! We have received a sizable donation to our school from this awesome organization and planning has already begun on how we might best enhance our school with this money! We are so glad to have this great partnership that funds many of our field trips, activities, and student needs! Please consider joining this great group of parents that support our kids! Check out their Facebook page!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeff Eppen, Principal

Health Office Update
May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month
It is now the peak season for allergy and asthma sufferers, and a perfect time to recognize the causes of asthma and allergies to best prevent and treat attacks.
Symptoms of allergies include coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat. Common allergens and irritants found in and around the home are pollen, dust mites, mold, insect droppings, pet dander, and secondhand smoke. Exposure to these allergens can not only cause allergy symptoms but can also be the trigger of an asthma attack.
During an asthma attack, airways become narrowed and breathing can become extremely difficult. Asthma can also be triggered by respiratory infections, air pollution, food allergies, cleaning products, perfumes, exercise, and cold air exposure. Common asthma symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. Asthma cannot be cured but it can be controlled.
You can help your child manage their allergies and asthma symptoms by helping them to avoid their triggers. Examples would include:
Vacuuming and dusting frequently and using allergen mattress and pillow covers
Avoid use of strong smelling odors such as perfumes and cleaners
Get your child vaccinated for influenza each year
Avoid secondhand smoke exposure
Talk to your medical provider about the best daily management for your child’s symptoms. For more information visit about allergies and asthma visit https://www.cdc.gov/asthma/world_asthma_day.htm.
End Of School Year Information:
