Dear Cardinal Family,

Me: Where are you supposed to be?

Student: I'm not sure.

Here ends my summary of the first couple of days of school. All of our students are acclimating to the new routine, new locations for class, the building, and their walking paths. We are regularly helping kids find the basement, the STEM hallway, that classroom off the cafeteria, and all sorts of spaces that aren't intuitive where classes occur. It's totally normal. It's a little stressful for kids. It's the start of school!

Our staff is definitely getting in our steps and making sure kids are getting the help they need. My guess is that you’re either hearing a whole lot about school or very little about school at home. In our house, it takes a concerted effort to get information out of my boys. If that predicament sounds familiar, my simple advice is: Give plenty of wait time and don't let them off the hook. You'll end up hearing something eventually.

I hope your experience has been a good one so far. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help and want to ensure your family enjoys a successful school year.

Have a great weekend!

Go Cards!

Childhood Vaccine Information

Vaccines protect children from serious and preventable diseases – and all K-12 students must be up-to-date on all required vaccines entering the new school year. Students with an incomplete immunization record 14 days after the start of the school year will not be able to attend classes. The exact date will vary based on the first day of classes for each school or district.

Please encourage parents to contact their healthcare provider to make sure that their child is up to date on their vaccinations. If for any reason parents cannot get into their doctor on time, Columbus Public Health has an Immunization Clinic at 240 Parsons Ave. where students can receive their vaccines, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Important Reminder Regarding Food Allergies

This serves as a reminder that there may be some students in your child’s school who have peanut and/or tree nut allergies. As the safety of our children is paramount to all, we need your support to make our cafeteria “nut free”. A child with a nut allergy can suffer a serious reaction merely by touching a food containing a peanut or tree nut. Therefore, we ask that you adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Please do not send in any peanuts, peanut butter, or foods containing peanuts or peanut butter to be eaten during lunch.

  • Read ingredient labels carefully to ensure that the snacks sent in with your child are peanut and tree nut-free.

Please do not hesitate to contact Julie Frank with any questions or concerns about food allergies. She can be reached at 614-450-6215 or
