Morning Drop-Off Reminders
Please remember, morning drop-off is now located on the side of the building, by the gym. The tardy bell rings at 7:40. Once all cars clear out, the gate will be locked. If the gate is locked, you must proceed to the front of the building to drop-off your child.
Also, the front parking lot is only to be used for parking and walking in with your child. DO NOT park and let you child walk in alone. This is a major safety concern. If you cannot walk in with your child, you must use the drop-off line.
Thank you again for your support!! Please email Mrs. Andjelic at email@example.com, with any questions or feedback.
Lunch Monitor Positions Available
In the meantime, if you are interested in volunteering to help out during lunch, please email Mrs. Andjelic at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for your help!!

Flu Update: What Parents Need to Know
Dear Lake Travis ISD Parents and Guardians:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu activity is widespread in most of the United States. Many schools in Texas have reported higher than usual absences due to student and staff illness. While Lake Travis ISD officials cannot confirm that student and staff absences are due to the flu, our schools have reported modest increases in student and staff illness.
Please be reminded, if your child is sick with a fever (99.5 F or higher), do not send him/her to school. Keep your sick child home for at least 24 hours after the fever has subsided. Your child may return to school after his/her temperature returns to normal for 24 hours without medication.
Our goal is to decrease the exposure to the flu while limiting the disruption to learning. As such, we would like to inform you of the steps we continue to take to prevent the transmission of the flu among our students and staff.
Campus nurses continue to assess and monitor student and staff illness; student and staff who are ill will be sent home.
Staff is reviewing proper hand-washing techniques and cough etiquette for students.
Teachers are having students wash their hands throughout the day as needed.
Custodial staff are cleaning districtwide facilities and classrooms daily and as needed including commonly-touched surfaces and areas such as windows, whiteboards, desks, tables, chairs, doorknobs, café table tops and seats, water fountains, sinks/faucets and locker rooms.
Custodial staff will perform personal rug sanitation procedures with hospital-grade disinfectant every Tuesday and Thursday at each elementary school.
Transportation staff are disinfecting seats on all buses after each run (morning and afternoon).
At home, we recommend families consider taking the following preventative actions:
Teach your children to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based rub.
Remind family members to use tissues to cover the mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze. Throw away the tissue after use. If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your sleeve or elbow.
Use paper towels to dry hands or assign each family member his/her own hand-drying towel.
Teach your children not to share personal items such as drinks, food, or unwashed utensils.
Know the signs and symptoms of the flu and how it is spread. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, headache, and cough. Many people also have a runny nose, fatigue, body aches, loss of appetite, nausea and/or diarrhea. Please keep your child home if he/she is experiencing any of these symptoms.
Talk to your healthcare provider about the flu vaccine.
For more information about the flu, visit the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/flu. You may also contact your child’s school nurse directly.

PTO Member Meeting with STAAR Speaker
We hope to see you at our next General Meeting THIS Wednesday, February 6th at 8:00 am. Our guest speaker will be Kathy Burbank, Director of Accountability and Achievement. She will give an overview of the tests and tips on how to prepare your child, and then lead a Q&A session. Parents of 3rd-5th graders (or curious parents of younger students) will not want to miss this meeting! We will also talk about 2019-20 Board recruitment and upcoming events during our meeting. See you then!
Save the date for Spring Fest! Friday, March 8 from 5-7pm at BCE. This is a FREE event for the whole family! We will have a rock wall, inflatables, carnival games & prizes, a “cupcake” walk, face painting & airbrush tattoos, fun music, and food trucks (It’s All Good BBQ, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, and Kona Ice). Admission and all activities are free, just bring money for food truck purchases. We can’t wait to celebrate with you there! (Note that this event is in place of Fall Fest, which was rescheduled due to weather).
Save the Date for a Night in Old Bee Cave
As your 2019 calendar starts filling up, save this date! Our adults-only dinner and dancing fundraiser "A Night in Old Bee Cave" will be held on Friday April 5, 2019 at Star Hill Ranch. Tickets will go on sale later in the year. Stay tuned for more information!
Thank you, Father-Daughter Dance Committee!
We hope all of the dads and daughters shared a memorable time together last night!
Please extend a big thank you to the mothers who put on this special event: chairwoman Jennifer Johnson, PTO liaison Tiffany Greenberg, and committee members Sarah Atkins, Leslie Perkins, Amy Noel, Allison McKee, Emily Chaplinski, and Shailene Smith. BCE is able to have these special events due to the efforts of volunteers like you! Thank you!
You can be Bandit!
Just a reminder to those of you out there who like to dance like no one is watching! We are looking for volunteers to be Bandit (our bobcat mascot) at any of our upcoming Friday assemblies. Get ready to be able to show your coolest dance moves anonymously! Sign-up on the PTO website
