Panther Pause
21 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
9.1.17
Panthers,
It has been amazing this week to see how so many people were willing to pitch in to help those suffering in Southeast Texas. Having spent three years prior to coming to CHHS in Southeast Texas, this really hit home to me and the many people that I am very close to. I know we all have people we know and care about that have been affected by Harvey, and it is now more than ever that we must ensure that we are paying it forward by taking care of those in need. We will be organizing some donation opportunities in the upcoming days, so please stay tuned to know how you can help.
As for CHHS, it has been a great week! Everyone has started to settle in and "get into the groove" of school. Our classes are full of students and teachers working together to create learning experiences that meet the needs of our students. It has been fun this week watching our students that have been working so hard since August 1st in their extra-curricular programs get the opportunity to showcase their hard work. On Tuesday night, I had the opportunity to watch our state ranked volleyball team bring home a victory; they have already won TWENTY games this season. Tonight in Aledo, there will be a great opportunity to see so many of our students demonstrate their PRIDE for our school and their different programs. If you do not currently have plans to attend, I would strongly encourage you to make the trip to Aledo to watch our students; they will truly amaze you. It is such a GREAT time to be a Panther!! Have a GREAT labor day weekend and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
I define 'Panther Pride' at CHHS as the joy from being part of our environment. In taking pride for something comes the responsibility to positively represent that in the classroom, on the field, on the court, and in our day to day lives outside of school. Having pride at Colleyville Heritage to me means to have gratification and fulfillment in our success AND our failure, and working everyday to make it a place others will take pride in, too.

CHHS Open House
PITCH IN FOR PANTHERS at OPEN HOUSE Sept. 11
CHHS will host its Open House from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11. Parents will have the chance to visit the classroom of each of their students’ teachers. While you are walking your student’s schedule, take a minute to stop by the PTSA Membership table by the front door and join for the year for only $10. PTSA will have school maps to hand out. (Seniors must join CHHS PTSA by October to be eligible to apply for PTSA scholarships.) Everyone who joins PTSA at the Open House table will receive a Chick-Fil-A gift card, so stop by!
You can also make a donation to our “Pitch in for Panthers” fundraising campaign — PTSA's only fundraiser each year. PTSA uses Pitch in for Panthers’ funds to pay for school improvements, staff appreciation events and all the other programs that PTSA offers each year. Watch for students in the hallways with buckets who will also take your Pitch in for Panthers donation if you don’t have time to stop by the PTSA table.
PTSA needs student volunteers to work during Open House and hold the buckets in the hallway for parents to drop donations in. You can get up to 3 hours of volunteer credit. Sign up with a friend and you’ll be paired with them. Sign up at this link.
For more information, email PTSA’s Ways & Means chair at vpwaysandmeans@chhsptsa.org. You can also donate to and join PTSA online using the PayPal link at http://www.chhsptsa.org.
