What a week it was! The students were able to participate in so many wonderful assemblies and hands-on workshops. Thank you to our STEM week committee, Ms. Nicoletta, Ms. Amy Jo, Ms. Amy, Ms. Christina, and Ms. Michelle, for putting on such a fun-filled week. The fun continues for Lower Elementary next week and their presentations! The Lower Elementary schedule for displays is as follows:
Tuesday- 3rd grade, North side elementary halls
Wednesday- 3rd grade, South Side elementary halls
Thursday- 2nd grade, North Side and Addition Commons
Friday- 1st grade, North Side and Addition Commons
This year's student projects were outstanding! A big shout out to all students who participated in the Science Fair and to our volunteers who judged. There were many close scores for our 6th and 8th graders. We are thrilled to be able to send nine 6th and 8th graders to the Ritchey Science & Engineering Fair. What is the Ritchey Science & Engineering Fair you ask? Their website says it best:
- Promote student involvement and interest in science and engineering.
- Foster university-community cooperation in developing the scientific potential and communication skills of tomorrow's leaders.
- Publicly recognize the achievements of talented science students."
The Ritchey Science & Engineering Fair will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University. There will be a public open house for those who are interested in supporting our students from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Parent Education Night: Executive Function
Thursday, Feb. 21st, 6-8pm
Right Brain! Left Brain! Hey What about the Front Brain?? Executive Functioning in the 21st Century
Children of all ages, especially children with ADHD, Autism or Learning Disabilities, often struggle with academic performance. Organizing school work, keeping track of assignments and just keeping up with the daily grind of school work can be very challenging and daunting. This discussion will help parents better understand what Executive Functioning is, how it may impact their child in school and learn ways to address these issues. This session will help parents with any child learn effective strategies they can implement to help their child succeed in school.
4th grade and up are welcome to come and learn with their parents.
RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Gala Art: We need more help!
My name is Elene Hess and I am the gala art chair person. I have been volunteering with the gala art for 5 years now and have spear-headed many projects. I am new to this position and I need all the help I can get. I am in need of volunteers to head up our art projects for the live auction. If you've never been to the gala, each level (grade) creates an art project that gets auctioned off at a live auction. These art projects are so precious and special; they have value way beyond the materials and time. We need parent volunteers for each level to help coordinate the students and spear-head each project. You don't have to be an artist, you don't even have to be creative. All we need is those willing to take a little bit of time and show the kids what to do. I have many project ideas I can help you with or you can come up with your own and I can look it over and approve (we try to do different projects for each level). Each project has a $50.00 budget, but we try to get materials donated as much as possible.
If you are willing to help, please open the google sheet and put your name down for the level you would like and the idea you have or write "need ideas." We will have a meeting to discuss the deadlines and art right after our holiday break.
Please feel free to call me with any questions. 801-388-7002
