The Stoney Creek News
Growing kind hearts & minds will inspiring personal success!
From the Principal
Happy New Year to our Stoney Creek Families,
I have a few Thank You’s to share with all of you as we enter 2019.
Thank you for sending your students back from break well rested and ready to learn! We have so much to celebrate this month and lots to accomplish. With your help, we will have readers, thinkers, problem solvers and caring young learners. Report Cards are coming home today with lots of information, please take the time to read all information attached.
Thank you for taking the time to answer the survey questions that we shared in November and your willingness to share your concerns. Our team is looking at the data and will make changes as necessary. The best news is that you feel welcome to share your thoughts and you are pleased with the level of communication that you are receiving from teachers, newsletters, website, and our Facebook page. Also, as parents, you feel your child is safe at school and they are prepared well for the future. Thank you for trusting all of us, we are striving for high academic success and growing our students for the future. Please keep reading nightly with your child.
Thank you for adjusting to a safe and calm pick up and drop off arrangement. I encourage you to be extra patient during the winter months. Moving children in full winter gear isn’t easy, so please stay in the line and avoid going around the car ahead of you for the safety of all students. The hill is very slippery, so drive cautiously whenever you are on our school grounds. Please have your child dressed and ready to go right outside each morning when they exit the bus or car, some of them are very upset when they finally get dressed and then the bell rings to come inside. It is easier if they are dressed for the cold weather every day. By the way, we have 200 kids that are wearing matching black snow pants all about the same size….so please label your children’s clothing items. J
This month we are focusing on Habit 4- Think WIN-WIN. This is the first habit where we think about working with others and not just ourselves. So we have lots of things planned to make this Habit a success. (Here’s a secret: the students enjoy team work so try it at home!)
Let’s get 2019 off to an AMAZING start together.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Jackson, Principal
