Pennies for Patients
THANK YOU for all your support. I do not have a final count yet on how much we raised, however I know that we surpassed our goal. I will share the totals and the winners next week.
THANK YOU to all that participated in the spirit week.
- Our safety hero's walked with us and enjoyed being with the kids.
- Our fathers walked their kids to school on Friday and received a little breakfast treat from our PTA.
Start Time
Students need to be at school by 8:00 am. BREAKFAST WILL NOT be after 8:00 am
It is important to be at school on time. If students arrive after 8:00 am they need to report to the main entrance and receive a pass to go to class.
PTA Fundraiser
PTA supports our school in many ways. To name a few recent ways: breakfast items for kindergarten and special treats on the first day, breakfast items for dad's who walk their children to school (on way with your kid day), recess games and equipment, field trip contributions. There are many more ways they help support our students and staff. We greatly appreciate your support too!
BOX TOPS
We are having our first collection drive for Box Tops. Please send all Box Tops into school before October 26, 2018. The grade level that has the most Box Tops collected will win a pizza party from the PTA. Please make sure that you label the envelope or baggie with your child’s grade, so it can be counted correctly.
Thanks for Supporting Brooklyn Elementary School Please feel free to contact Cathie Flanagan at 216.218.4771 with questions.
Check out this link to read more about the Box Top program and ways you can cash in online.
RISE up in Brooklyn School -Cafeteria
Our Focus over the next month will be how to RISE up in the cafeteria.
Our goal in the cafeteria is for students to feel safe and to learn how to be responsible in this environment. We have given students assigned seats to help with self-control and set students up for success by making good choices. We have had silent lunches a few days, because the noise was so loud, students were overwhelmed and felt anxious. We appreciate your support and reminding your children that using an inside quiet voice at the table is proper manners.
In the cafeteria, students will ...
- stay in their seats
- clean up their space and garbage
- use polite, quiet voice when talking.
What does this look like in our cafeteria's...
- We ask that students get their lunches and find their seat.
- Go to their seat the quickest way
- Eat all of their lunch and wait to be dismissed to the garbage area (many of our kids like to get up and throw each piece of garbage away as they use it.
- If food or trash fall onto the floor, pick it up
- When sitting at their table, talk quietly to the kids beside you
- If a child needs an item, k-5 - has it on their table, 6-7 has a location to get it
- If a child needs to use the restroom or has a question, raise their hand and wait patiently.
- Sometimes the noise level gets to loud, we ask them to sit quietly
- When we stand in common areas for dismissal or lining up, we are at a level 0 for noise (no talking, facing forward)
- Keep hands and feet to self (not touching the people around you)
- Following directions - when an adult talks to a student, they need to be respectful and responsible.
During dinner or families, talk about how this is modeled at home and school.
We appreciate your support.

Birthday Club
The Brooklyn Media Center’s Birthday Book Club is a fun way to commemorate
your child’s birthday while helping our library collection continue to grow.
Participation in the program involves a $10-15 donation per child. During the month of your child’s birthday (summer birthdays will be celebrated in the spring) he/she will get to choose
a new book from our selection of new, hardcover books.
A decorative bookplate with your child’s name and birth date will be placed in
the book, and he or she will be the first to check it out! After that special checkout
period, the book will become a part of Brooklyn Media Center’s collection for all
students to enjoy!
Additionally, members of Birthday Book Club will have their name and picture
displayed on the library bulletin board.
