THE FOURTH GRADE FLYER
News from Room N312
Issue 4-October 6, 2015
Welcome October! Believe it or not we are in the second month of school already. The kids are happy to have new spots in the classroom with a different desk arrangement.
Please remind your child to read and/or write each night. It is part of their expected nightly homework. I do not assign a specific amount of minutes each night as I know how busy life can be. I believe in the importance of creating good reading habits with your family and alone. Please read a book to your child, have them read to you, or remind them to read alone each night. Together we can instill the value of reading in our children.
For the next few weeks your child will be going to Mrs. Erdmann's room for social studies class. They will be studying Wisconsin history. Ask them what they have learned so far about our great state!
Our excellent read aloud continues! The kids beg me for more chapters every day as we proceed through the book Swindle. We have been practicing making inferences about characters as we read. Then we discuss the evidence to prove those inferences. The kids are great at finding clues to help them infer about a character.
We had a blast at the FUN RUN last Friday. The class set a goal of running 262 laps! We worked hard and made that goal by running 264 laps! Thanks to the little brothers that helped us reach our running goal.
Our glass goal of walking in a quiet, single file line continues. We are now up to 17 points. We are now trying to line up by desk group and this seems to be helping us keep our voices off in the halls.
Please remember to send in a healthy snack with your child each day. Some ideas for you: fruit, vegetables, granola bars, yogurt, cheese, etc.
1st GRADE BUDDIES
We began meeting with our first grade buddies last Friday. We are paired up with Mrs. Kulibert's class this year. Throughout the year we will get together with our buddies to read, write and do many fun activites while being great role models to our new friends.
