Hello FUSD Staff and Community,
Happy new year! I hope the winter break brought each of you opportunities for rest and enjoyment.
I know many of us spent the first days of 2023 stacking sandbags and preparing evacuation plans; my thoughts are with those impacted by recent storms.
I am excited to share that this month six FUSD elementary schools were named as 2023 California Distinguished Schools by the California Department of Education for their outstanding education programs and practices. Congratulations to the staff and students at Forest Park, Mission Valley, Chadbourne, Weibel, Azevada and Warm Springs elementary schools for this achievement! Click here to read more.
Next week FUSD is hosting our virtual State of the District. I hope you’ll tune in for updates on student support, academics, budget, facilities and more. More information is below.
Board Vacancy: Apply by January 13, 2023 at 4:30pm
The Fremont Unified School District Governing Board has a vacant seat for Area 1 due to the resignation of former Trustee Desrie Campbell, who was recently elected to serve on Fremont’s City Council.
The Board will make a provisional appointment of an Area 1 Trustee to serve through November 2024. The appointee may choose to run in the November 2024 election for a full term.
The appointee must reside in Area 1 and meet other eligibility criteria. Visit the District website for more information and the application packet.
The deadline to apply is January 13, 2023 at 4:30pm.
FUSD’s State of the District
Please join Superintendent CJ Cammack for a State of the District presentation on January 18, 2023 from 6-7pm, with updates on student support, academics, budget, facilities and more.
Visit www.fremont.k12.ca.us/series to submit questions or comments that may be addressed during the presentation, and to access the virtual event on January 18.
2023-24 Enrollment Information
Information on transitional kindergarten (TK), kindergarten, sibling priority and other new student enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is now available at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/enrollment.
Eligibility for transitional kindergarten is expanding: children who will be 5 years old between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024 can enroll in this free program for 2023-24 to get a head start in school and build their social, communication and independence skills.
If your student is currently attending an FUSD school in grades TK-11, there is no need to re-enroll.
Reminder: Health & Safety Protocols
Please remember to complete the daily health screener before students enter campus, and keep students home when they are ill. The cold, flu and other viruses are circulating in our community, and it remains important to test for COVID-19 when symptoms are present.
Masks are strongly recommended indoors, and are available in school front offices.
Get Involved in FUSD
We are currently recruiting representatives to serve on various committees. Whether you're a parent, alumni, student, teacher, or simply someone who cares about the future of Fremont, you can help support FUSD and our students by serving on a committee. Learn more.
Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.
Sincerely,
CJ Cammack
