Friday Update

Weekly Update
Hello Foster's Finest,
Happy Friday Everyone! It looks like we are heading into what will be a fantastic fall weekend. I want to acknowledge the work so many of you have done to support the building project. If you were at Town Meeting (I have been to many in my lifetime), what occurred last Tuesday was nothing short of miraculous. We do not want to count chickens before they are hatched. There is an additional vote this coming Tuesday. Please continue to encourage all community members to participate in the voting process.
One of the initiatives that we are going to implement is a game drive. It is that time of year when many people look at their children's closets and toys and start to purge before the holiday season. Believe me, we all want the students to get outside as much as possible to get some fresh air and burn some energy, but we may have to have some indoor recesses. Starting next week we will have a box in the lobby for donated games that your children may no longer play or have outgrown. With the support of the PTO, we will be distributing the games to the classrooms for students to use, not only on extremely wintry days, but also during the construction of the temporary playground. We are looking for games (Uno, Boggle, card games, board games) that are fairly simple and fun to play. Thank you so much in advance for supporting this initiative.
A HUGE shoutout to our Foster's Finest Fifth Graders! They have raised $2,500 to help the endangered tigers at the Franklin Park Zoo! This is simply amazing!!!! I love that our students actively worked together to accomplish this feat. Additionally, this proud principal stopped by the 5th Grade Bowling event this week to find that the same amazing students were great representatives of how students should be behaving: the word from the manager of the bowling alley was that our students were one of the best behaved groups that they have seen! Thank you to the PTO and 5th Grade Parents for sponsoring this event!
If you have a family member who is a Veteran who would like to be a part of our Veteran's Day assembly next week, please email Mrs. Farrel efarrell@hinghamschools.org for more information.
The First Grade Kindness Club will be making care packages for the military for our November project. We need your help! We will be collecting items for the packages in the lobby. Here is a list of items needed:
Candy (that won't melt)
Mints
Gum
Protein bars
Individual powder drink mix
Single serving beef jerky
Travel size toiletries (no aerosol cans)
Chapstick
Sunblock
Decks of cards
Small travel size games
Have a great weekend!

11/8 Election Day: Polls are open 7:00am to 8:00pm.
The 11/1 Town Meeting was part #1 of the process to build the new Foster School and the Public Safety Building. 1,369 Hingham voters came to the high school and had a near unanimous vote!! The Ballot Vote is the next step. Questions 5 (Foster) & 6 (Public Safety) are on the back of the ballot. There has been some confusion on the way the questions are worded. To clarify for you: A ‘YES’ vote is the Pro-Vote to support these projects.
