Chapter 37, Student Discipline & Policy Training
Texas Public Schools are required to develop and enforce various student discipline policies that follow the Texas Education Code and federal law. This includes a student code of conduct that outlines disciplinary actions taken based on the students behavior. The Texas Education Agency's Student Discipline Program provides guidance to Local Education Agencies and Regional Education Service Centers on the disciplinary policies and procedures as well as discipline data reporting requirements outlined in the Texas Education Data Standards.

Active Shooter Exercise Development Workshop
The goal of the Active Shooter Exercise Development Workshop is to provide first responder and city, county, and state officials with the knowledge, skills and abilities to lead an Active Shooter Tabletop Exercise.
Scope
Past Active shooter events have proven the need for realistic exercises delivered in the community. This course answers that need by providing a train the trainer (TtT) course on how to design and deliver a Tabletop exercise (TTX). This course will also provide template materials needed to deliver five (5) different TTXs, with one (1) of the five TTXs delivered in the afternoon of the training day.
Attendance Requirements
To meet attendance requirements, participants must review each training module and complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam.
Suggested Audience
The Active Shooter Exercise Development Exercise Workshop is an On-Line, train-the-trainer course designed for individuals who may be responsible for developing and delivering active shooter tabletop exercises. Past events have demonstrated that a key point to effective whole community preparation includes coordination across all professional disciplines that have responsibilities in the event of an active shooter incident.

KEEPING YOU IN THE KNOW
iWatchTexas School Safety is an invaluable resource for reporting (and ensuring law enforcement in partnership with school systems quickly and effectively responds to) suspicious activity in schools and communities. iWatchTexas is the entry point for reports to enter the Texas Suspicious Activity Reporting Network (TxSARNet), a single, statewide reporting system that ensures tips from different parts of the community are integrated in order to link critical data. iWatchTexas includes functionality that permits district police and other campus security personnel to directly access submitted reports related to their campus/district.
Tips can be reported anonymously via the iWatch School Safety website, the free iOS and Android mobile apps, or by calling 844-643-2251. All reports are confidential.
To help school systems answer questions related to this service, iWatchTexas is offering bi-weekly overview briefings. Topics will include a network overview, report submission process, review procedures, and options to directly access school reports. These briefings will occur virtually and last approximately 30 to 45 minutes. School districts are encouraged to register for an iWatchTexas School Safety Overview Briefing.
Additional information can be found on the iWatchTexas School Safety website.
