D'Andre Fletcher takes MVP award!

Bengal Football player D’Andre Fletcher competed and then was awarded MVP for upperclassmen in the High School Football Challenge last Saturday in Spartanburg, SC.

Patrick Kelly honored at Teacher of the Year banquet sponsored by the Richland Two Foundation

On Thursday night, Mr. Kelly (accompanied by his wife, Heather) was recognized at the annual banquet that celebrates all teachers of the year from all Richland Two schools. Mr. Kelly received a signed picture from his students, a commemorative gold teacher bell, and a ring presented by Jostens for being named Richland Two Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Price receives award

Keith Price was recognized on Thursday for being named the 2014 Administrator of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians. Congratulations Mr. Price!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Talented & Gifted Drama class will be presenting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on April 4 & 5 @ 7 pm and April 6 @ 3 pm. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Come out and enjoy a wonderful production.

Make Up Days announced

At its March 11 meeting, the Richland Two School Board voted to make up two days of school missed because of winter storms in January and February. Those two days will be made up on the already scheduled inclement weather makeup days, March 28 and April 21. The board also voted to forgive the remaining two days missed due to inclement weather.

Boys Track & Field Team finishes in Second!

Congratulations to the boys track and field team who finished 2nd at this past weekend’s Diamond Hornet Invitational. Scoring first place finishes for the Bengals were Mike Lantz, Aaron Peak, Darius Wilson, Lynard Jamison, Javon Smith, and Adam Ramsdale.

National Science Honor Society Accepting Applications

If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior who has passed at least two honors science classes with an A or B, applications are now being accepted for new members to Science National Honor Society. If you are interested in joining the Science National Honor Society, come by room 402 to pick up an application packet and get more information on membership requirements. All applications are due back to Miss McAlpine in room 402 or Dr. Matsui in room 808 by Tuesday, March 18th.

Match to Marrow 5K

The Match to Marrow 5K Walk or Run will be held on Saturday, March 22 starting at 8:30. The run benefits "Be the Match" for patients in need of bone marrow transplants. Forms are available in the Main Office or you can register online at tinyurl.com/matchtomarrow. Registration is $15 which includes a t-shirt or $10 without a t-shirt. Cheerleading Tryouts

Attention all students interested in trying out for Cheerleading: We will have our first informational meeting concerning tryouts on Monday, March 17th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. You are encouraged to attend this meeting if you are trying out. Tryouts will be held Tuesday, April 22-Friday, April 25 and tryout packets will be available beginning March 17.

Pep Rally

The Spring Sports Pep Rally has been scheduled fro Friday, March 21. We will follow a PM Assembly schedule this day.

Dancing with the Bengals - Rescheduled

The BHS Education Foundation is hosting the first annual Dancing with the Bengals show on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 in the BHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. All proceeds will go to help and support initiatives sponsored by the BHS Education Foundation. Please plan to come out and see some of your favorite BHS employees as they dance the night away in this fun-filled event. You will NOT want to miss it!

PROM

This year, prom will take place on Saturday, April 26th at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. A ticket table will be set up Monday-Friday in the atrium AT LUNCH ONLY. Ticket sales are going on now and will end on April 3rd. Tickets are ONLY available at lunch. There are no exceptions. Make sure to have your student ID with you.

Remember that prom tickets are increasing by $5 every week until April 3rd.

If one wants to change who their date to prom is, make sure you let one of the Junior Class officers know at the table set up at lunch. Also, for seniors who attended prom last year, make sure to stop by the table to verify that you will be attending prom again this year. Those SENIORS who attended prom last year are allowed to get in to prom for free this year.

Richland Two’s Title I Child Development Program will be accepting applications

Monday, January 13, through Friday, April 11, 2014

• This is a needs-based program designed to ensure that the most

at-risk children enter kindergarten with the skills necessary to

succeed academically.

• The full-day program is free to qualifying families

• Children applying for the program must be four years old by

September 1, 2014.

• Applications will be taken at the Clemson Road Child Development

Center (CRCDC) at 2621A Clemson Road, Monday - Friday, from

8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
