Various Announcements and Reminders
Staff awards each month - you are ALWAYS welcome to make a nomination - just email me. Also, white activity buses will not be reserved for any trips past May 27th as per district rules. AND, if you are on Instagram, please follow the Concord Middle Media Center! And, it's almost time to do EVAAS roster verification! Most of you have done this before, and you know how important it is, so please just mentally begin preparing. :-)
Appreciating those we love...
It's that time of year where we try to take time to honor various roles folks play in education. National Assistant Principal Week is April 11-15! Also, we will have a Concord Middle School Custodial Appreciation Day on April 20th. National Administrative Professional Day is April 27, 2016. National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6. National School Nurse Day is May 11, 2016. We've already had time to recognize our school counselors and our social worker. It's wild how many people we have at Concord Middle School that contribute to our students' every day success!

Enrollment Update and Rising 6th Grade Notes
Updated enrollment: 322 (6th), 241 (7th), 291 (8th)
I have almost completed my visits to all of our feeders (Weddington Hills is on Monday). Once I'm done, I will share all results with everyone, as I believe it's VERY important for us to understand the various school environments are students are coming from, even if you don't teach 6th grade yourself, they are still all of our kids. Of our 7 feeder schools, 5 of them are Title 1. We are the only middle school in CCS that has 7 feeders. Here's a small breakdown of where our students will come from next year:
R. Brown McAllister - 34 rising 6th graders (100% of 5th graders come to CMS)
Royal Oaks - 49 rising 6th graders (100% of 5th graders come to CMS)
Beverly Hills - 45 rising 6th graders (95% of 5th graders come to CMS)
Coltrane Webb - 15 rising 6th graders (100% of the neighborhood kids come to CMS, but this is STEM magnet in which apparently about 70% of the school is magnet and 30% of the school is neighborhood)
Irvin - 92 rising 6th graders (60% of the 5th graders come to CMS)
Wolf Meadow - 17 rising 6th graders (5% of the 5th graders come to CMS)
Weddington Hills - 17 rising 6th graders (5% of the 5th graders come to CMS)
Way to go, CTE department for CMS!
Just got a note from the editor of “CountyLines.” He’s using the article on Concord’s visit to the jail for the April issue. The publication is distributed statewide to members of the NC Association of County Commissioners.
