Hello Lichen Bear Families!
Here are this week's announcements:
Staff Appreciation Week is next week
Our Lichen Staff is incredible, and next week is your chance to tell them just that! We will be celebrating teachers and staff members Monday through Friday! A kind note to an instructional assistant, a flower from the garden, a letter from your child to their teacher (chocolate doesn't hurt, either)--next week is your chance to spread the joy and say thank you to our staff.
5th Grade Positive Prevention Plus Curriculum
San Juan Unified School District offers a course of study on comprehensive sexual health for 5th grade students. Lichen will use the board adopted curriculum, Positive Prevention Plus. This unit of study on puberty and sexual health education is guided by the California Education Code as well as the California Health Education Content Standards. Written or audiovisual material to be used in this instruction will be available for inspection by parent and guardian. Transition Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment for next year
We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering Transitional Kindergarten next year here at Lichen! If you are interested in getting your little bear enrolled, please contact San Juan Central Enrollment by following this link:

Summer school is available for our students
Our site will not be hosting summer school due to the remodeling we have happening, BUT our neighbor school, Grand Oaks, is holding space for our current kinder through current 5th graders. Please reach out to your child's teacher for an application if interested.
Bridges Program this Summer
While we will not be hosting Bridges at Lichen this summer due to the campus remodel, Bridges will be offered at several other sites in the district, including Del Paso Manor, Deterding, Thomas Edison K-8, Grand Oaks, Greer, Kingswood K-8, Starr King K-8, and Sylvan Middle. Ray Tolleson Track Meet
The Ray Tolleson Track Meet for grades 3rd-6th is scheduled for May 13th from 4pm-8pm at Del Campo High School. Please see the flier below for further details.
