Principal's Update

We had some exciting things happen last week and more coming this week.

Last week was our staff march madness with our staff participating in dressing up in theme, decorating their doors and referring students for Positive Behavior Rewards. I've included pictures of them.

Mrs. Jenna Naymik won our Extra Mile award. She and Mrs. Alana Bendetta will be honored at the start at our Thursday 3/24 School Board Meeting.

We will also be honoring our 1st and 2nd quarter Polaris Students of the Quarter at our next board meeting 3/24 at 7:00 pm.

As a reminder we are coming up on the deadline for the College Credit Plus intent form. This year the form is digital and timestamped. THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE per Tri-C. Please make sure you have filled it out before April 1st, 2022.

Participation forms for CCP are due by April 1st.

We are having our first annual Run like a Pro 5k on 4/30 at the high school. Please register and come enjoy a Saturday morning workout. All of the proceeds go to fund our positive behavior programming.

RUN LIKE A PRO

Join us for the train like a pro 5k at the high school.

On Saturday April 30th at 9:00 am the 5k and wellness fair will begin. Proceeds will be going to our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports programming.

PBIS incentives are good for student morale and supports Strongsville High School having a good culture for students.

Read Across the School

For the third year in a row we will participate in our Reading Across the School program. On Wednesday, March 30th, all students and staff will have the opportunity to engage in 30 minutes of pleasure reading during 2nd period. Please encourage your students to bring a book, a magazine, an online article, or a graphic novel and find the joy of reading.

60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT

This week, Strongsville Middle School hosted all of the Polaris partner schools for “Polaris Palooza.” This event featured robotics competitions between the schools and showcased creativity and teamwork of all participants. SHS STUDENTS ADVANCE TO REGIONAL COMPETITION IN OPTIMIST SPEECH CONTEST

Five Strongsville High School students participated in the first round of this year’s Optimist Speech contest: Nora Bacon, Brigid Fraser, Sanjana Katiyar, Aubrey Kocsis, and Anaya Daryapurkar. Congratulations to the following students who will be moving on to next month’s regional competition:

SHS CHEERLEADER & MASCOT TRYOUTS + MANDATORY PARENT MEETING

SHS Cheerleading and Mascot Tryout Clinics for the 2022-23 school year will be held April 4th - April 7th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm each day. Tryouts will follow on April 8th from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Please note: prior to tryouts, there will be a mandatory Parent Meeting on March 28th at 6pm in the SHS auditorium. “STATE OF THE SCHOOLS” PRESENTATION - WATCH IT ON DEMAND

The annual “State of the Schools” presentation was held recently. If you were not able to attend, Dr. Ryba’s presentation is available on demand. STRONGSVILLE LACROSSE YOUTH DAYS (4/2 & 4/9)

Join in the fun as everyone is invited to youth days at Strongsville High School Lacrosse matches in April. The girls event will be held on Saturday, April 2 and the boys event follows on Saturday, April 9. Enjoy the JV and Varsity SHS matches, along with youth games and activities for kids of all ages. Both events will be held on Serpentini Field at Pat Catan Stadium. Girls Varsity battles Bay High School at 12pm on 4/2, with family activities beginning at 10am. Boys Varsity takes on Perrysburg High School at 2pm on 4/9 and activities beginning at 12pm. Enjoy two great weekends of Mustangs spirit with Strongsville Lacrosse!

SHS CRAFT FAIR (SAT. 3/26)

Strongsville High School will be hosting a Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, March 26th from 9am - 2pm. Come shop from over 60 local crafters & vendors who will have handmade and unique gifts! Admission is only $1. All proceeds from the event will benefit SHS Cheerleading.

ATHLETIC BOOSTERS CALENDAR RAFFLE - WIN PRIZES THROUGHOUT APRIL!

The Strongsville Athletic Boosters will be selling Calendar Raffle tickets throughout the month of March. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from an SHS student-athlete or HERE. Raffle drawings begin April 1st, with a winner chosen each day throughout the month of April! Over $3,500 in prizes will be given away! Proceeds benefit Strongsville's athletic program and student-athletes.

‘MAGIC GIVES BACK’ EVENT (SUN. 4/10)

Make plans for the entire family to attend the ‘Magic Gives Back’ event on Sunday, April 10 at 3pm in the Strongsville High School Auditorium. This exciting show features the unbelievable magic and stunning illusions of world-famous Rick Smith, Jr. Initial proceeds from this event will go toward the Kinsner Elementary PTA.
