Thanks for a great first week!
I want to thank you all for a truly fantastic week!
I appreciate all of the hard work you’ve put in, the way you’ve rolled with the technological glitches as they’ve come, and the enthusiasm you all have for learning!
The work you guys have been turning in is super impressive and I can tell that we are going to have a lot of fun together this year!

Notifications...
I love all of the awesome assignments your guys turn in! And I love leaving you comments and feedback on the great work you’ve done. But you may not notice that I left you any feedback if you notifications are set the right way. If you haven’t received any feedback this week, you may want to head over to your notification settings and make sure you have them set to receive immediate feedback notification. Check out the directions below to learn how to do just that.

I would suggest setting the following Course Activities to an Immediate or Daily Notification Update…
- Announcement: New announcement in your course
- Submission Comment: Assignment submission comment
This way you are always in the loop :)
TopNotes Update...
I know there have been a few issues for some of you with TopNotes this week. I promise we are working on it and I hope to have a resolution to the issue by mid-week next week.
Hang in there :)
Upcoming Assignments
I also just wanted to give you guys a heads up that we’ll be conducting one of our first Scientific Investigations in Module 3. This investigation will center around the topic of Weathering, and will require a few materials. If you do not have or cannot acquire the things listed below, please let me know and we’ll make sure to get you what you need.
- Several small rocks (softer rocks such as shale, limestone, and sandstone work the best)
- One large plastic jar or tupperware container with a lid (a large peanut butter jar will work well. Make sure the lid screws on or locks on tightly)
- Paper Towels
- Plastic Ziploc Bags (pint size will work best)
- A plastic egg
- A couple of larger bowls for container water (two-liters bottles can serve as water sources for the investigations. A two-liter bottle with the neck cut off can serve as the water collection container)
- Plastic Cup
- Ice Cubes
