NEW! Face Coverings Update
On Monday, May 17, the Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Mark Ghaly, made a statement that the state will not be changing its face covering guidance to align with the new CDC recommendations for vaccinated people at this time. As a result, face coverings are still required in all PUSD office spaces and learning and teaching spaces in our schools and classrooms, including outdoor spaces on campus (except when eating/drinking).
If and/or when this changes, we will be sure to communicate with everyone, to ensure that there is no confusion.
NEW! Requests to return to in-person learning in May and June
Parents: If your child is currently a virtual learner and you are interested in having them return to campus for in-person learning for the remainder of the year, please keep in mind that it is based on space available in the classrooms (we have to maintain a minimum of 3 feet between students). We ask that you email your child's counselor with your request by May 26 if possible. It takes time for the counselors to review schedules and spacing and to notify teachers. We have learned that it is best for students to come all four days (M-Th) for continuity.
NEW! In-Person PE Classes and Attire
Please keep an eye on which days your child has PE and ensure they are dressed for PE participation. Thank you!
NEW! California School Parent Survey
Poway Unified School District is conducting a survey of parents as part of our school and district continuous improvement process. Additionally, the results are used to meet the requirements of the state mandated Local Control Accountability Plan(LCAP). We value parent input greatly and appreciate your participation in the short survey.
This survey is specific to our school and will be used for site and district input. The Parent survey is aligned with the state mandated California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) taken by the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th grade students and the PUSD Staff Survey also to be conducted this month.
PUSD will use these student, staff and parent surveys to gain a better understanding of the parents’ view of our school and how we can best support our students and PUSD families. The document below provides some additional information.
We are asking parents to please complete this survey no later than June 4, 2021. Click here to take the survey.
NEW! 8th Grade Promotion and End of Year Events
June 17 will be an on-campus fun day for ALL 8th graders to celebrate the end to middle school. We will send an email directly to all 8th grade families next week with specifics, but please put the date on your calendar if you are comfortable with your virtual student coming to campus 8:30-2:05 on June 17. We are committed to wrapping up our 8th graders' last year at MVMS in a fun and special way.
