School Day Screening Questionnaire

Each morning before school QCSD parents and guardians will be receiving this screening questionnaire in an email. It aligns with the goals of the district’s Health And Safety Plan to safely monitor student and staff health.

The purpose of these school-day emails is to provide support for families to develop this important habit by having this questionnaire easily accessible. You do not need to submit the questionnaire to anyone, but our safety plan does require that you screen your child(ren) each morning before they get on the bus or you bring them to school. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping students, staff, and our schools safe for live instruction.

Aspiring teacher qualifies as National Merit Semifinalist

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named Quakertown Community High School senior Michael Dennis a semifinalist in its prestigious program for 2021.

Michael is one of 16,000 semifinalists out of 1.5 million students who entered the program. His 1480 score on the 2019 Preliminary SAT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants, is achieved by fewer than one percent of today’s U.S. high school seniors.

“I don’t believe it’s really hit me yet,” Michael said of qualifying as a semifinalist. “I’m really surprised that I’m the only one in our high school to qualify because there are a lot of really smart people in the senior class. I know I’ve always done well at tests, and don’t feel pressure from standardized tests.”

Quakertown Parks and Rec helps families with Camp in a Bag program

During the spring Quakertown Parks and Recreation established a free Camp in a Bag program to help young people and families adapt to and overcome challenges presented by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

For five weeks, Quakertown Park and Rec provided a Free Camp in a Bag Program for Quakertown families, who received free lunches from the Quakertown Community School District. The department distributed 150 bags each week, 750 in total.

The free camp bags provided youngsters with the opportunity to grow and learn through the summer in a fun way, while also providing parents a break throughout the day. Each week the camp bags were a different theme including outer space, oopy goopy nature, and ocean week.

Each bag consisted of crafts, school supplies, science experiments, snacks, and was valued from $8 to $13 each. The Parks and Recreation Department partnered with community members and local businesses to offer the free camp bags for families.
