Have a great week!

Katie Booth, Principal

Help us go for the GOLD for Silver Springs!!

We have raised $8600 of our goal of $10,000 dollars through the Invest in Your Child campaign. This is a fuss-free way to help fund:

  • Learning Resources like IXL for all students
  • Science Fair and Reflections
  • Assemblies (JES), Science Alive and March Is Reading Month
  • Teacher Allocations for classroom use
  • Hospitality and Teacher Appreciation Week

If 20 families are able to give $25, that is $500 that stays right here at Silver Springs!! Please help us reach our goal!

Thank you to all families who have contributed!!!

We have 140 PTA members! Over halfway to our goal of 200! Help us represent our children.

Haunted Car Wash Thank You!

The Dad's Club would like to give a huge thank you to all the families that visited the Haunted Car Wash on Friday.

We would also like to give a shout out to Bill Conover, Gaston Mulleady, Andrew Augustine, and Tony Baker for hanging out in the cold drying cars and passing out candy!

Last, but not least, thank you to Northville City Car Wash and the Jaafar family for the generous donation to the Dad's Club!

Silver Springs Families,

As a reminder, our Silver Springs Community will be ordering school wide t-shirts that can be worn at

all school-wide assemblies, class field trips, Leadership Day (December 6th) and on NEST days

(Neighbors–varying aged students, Enthusiastically Synergizing Together). See attached order form.

The Student Lighthouse Community Service Action Team will be sponsoring an event called Socktober this year. We are asking for donations of new socks from October 21-31. There will be a collection box near the showcase. We will be donating all new socks to Northville Civic Concern. Let's synergize by warming hearts and feet this winter!

Thank you,

Community Service Action Team

Treats for Troops

The Community Service Action Team is sponsoring "Treats for Troops" this month. We are asking students and families to write letters to soldiers and donate some of their Halloween candy (no chocolate). There will be a donation box in front of the office. All donations must be turned in by November 3rd. Thank you for your support!

Halloween Parade - October 31st 2:00 p.m.

Silver Springs will be celebrating Halloween with our annual costume parade on October 31st. The parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. We will parade around the hallways of the school. Parents will have a special viewing location in the gym.

Please follow these guidelines when planning your child's costume:

-Please make sure the costume is weather appropriate (students will go outside for recess)

-Students are responsible for their costumes not causing a problem during learning time.

-Face make-up, hairspray, etc. must be applied at home.

-No fake weapons of any kind are allowed at school.

-No fake blood and no scary costumes (if it would scare a kindergartener, please don’t wear it!)

All adults participating at school celebrations on October 31st must be clearly identifiable. No adults should wear masks or face make up please.

Here's to a safe Halloween!

Recycle Plastic Bags HERE!

Did you know plastic bags cannot be put into household recycling bins. They can actually damage the machines used to sift thru and sort the recyclable materials. Many places are now offering special recycling containers just for plastic bags. Places like Target, Kroger, Home Depot....and now Silver Springs! Thanks to Silver Springs Second grade Brownie Troop 40406, we now have a spot in the main entryway where you can drop off all your plastic shopping bags to be recycled. Containers are located next to the ink cartridge and battery recycling.

The Silver Springs Eagle has landed...

The Silver Springs Eagle has landed on its second trip around the world.

To celebrate the diversity at Silver Springs will have Multi-Cultural Leaders from around the world share about different cultures that are represented by students here at Silver Springs. The first stop is Germany to celebrate German American History Month.

Check out the video below by our first Multi-Cultural Leaders, Janos, Emma, and Laura. They share some awesome information about their home country Germany.

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!

Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw

What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.

“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”

“I find meaningful ways to help others.”

“I spend time with family and friends.”

“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”

How can I do this in my life?

1. Go for a walk.

2. Read a book.

3. Volunteer in your community.

4. Value the difference in others.
