PreK

This week in Pre-K C we will be learning the letter Y, talking more about patterns and about trying new things. Ms. Ingroum

This week we are learning about many different kinds of zoo animals. We are focusing on letter Yy but we continue to review all letter names and sounds. We will also practice counting and adding sets.-Mrs. Vasquez

This week in Pre-KB we are learning; the letter Y, reviewing numbers (1-20), reviewing basic colors, reviewing basic shapes and 3D shapes, working on sight words (see, my, like), and working on word families (-ake, -an, -at, -ug ). Let’s have a great week!!! -Ms. Bateman

Kindergarten

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child daily. This week in math we are continuing to work on counting by 1's to at least 100. We will be working on skip counting by 5's and 10's and also counting on from a given number. We will also begin our unit on money (identifying coins and their value). In ELA, we are learning the long vowel e can be spelled with the digraph "ee." Also, we are learning that readers have a purpose in reading; we can read for fun, or we can read to learn, for example, reading books about plants and earthworms. In Writing, students will continue learning and practicing that they can write about their opinions, using "My favorite . . .,: "I think . . .," or "The best . . ." In science we will continue learning about plants. In social studies we will be reviewing the four seasons and the types of weather. We hope you have a great week. 1st Grade

We are practicing counting sets of coins, practice counting by 1s, 2s, 5,s and 10s at home to help your kiddo count money. Review social studies quarter 4 to take a test. Continue reading at home!-First Grade Team

2nd Grade

In math we will continue our topic over money and financial literacy. Your child will be able to tell you what a deposit and a withdraw is. Please make sure that your child is joint everyday on zoom at the correct time. If they can’t join zoom, please make sure that they complete all exit tickets and homework so they will get marked as present. All grades are up to date and if you have any questions, please reach out to me. 22 more days of school left! We can do it! Let’s finish the year off strong. -Ms. Lester

This week students will continue our unit on Biological Evolution. We will be studying the characteristics and behaviors of animals. Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher-Mrs. A. Martinez

This week we will be spelling words with the double middle consonant rule, by doubling the middle consonant before adding the ending -ing, -ed. We will begin our next unit 10 and practice how to make inferences using our text evidence and background knowledge. Friday, April 30th will be an asynchronous (self-paced) work day for students. Students MUST complete all work and exit tickets in the Friday folder for their grade and to be counted present for the day. Please make sure students are reading for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown

3rd Grade

This week in ELA we will be spelling words with the VCCV pattern. We will begin our next unit 10 and students will make inferences using text evidence and background knowledge. We will begin working with prepositions and prepositional phrases. We will be practicing STAAR passages for poetry and fiction. 4th Grade

We have MAP and STAAR testing coming up so we are reviewing some topics. This week we are revisiting adding fractions and measuring angles. -Ms. McCaig

We are spending the next two weeks reviewing for the Reading STAAR. We will also have MAP testing.-Ms. Swanner

We will read “The Hero Maui” and practice comprehension skills. In writing, we will write our podcast scripts. -Mrs. Driver

5th Grade

In science we will continue to focus on 5.2(D) in which the students analyze and interpret information to construct reasonable explanations from direct (observable) and indirect (inferred) evidence. 5.2(D) is dual coded and is embedded in all other TEKS.

In social studies we will be studying "One War, Two Leaders". Both the North and the South needed strong leaders for their troops. These leaders were Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee-Mr. Walton

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello! Progress reports are going out this week. Please make sure you are checking Skyward for current grades. If you see your student has missing assignments or 0's/low grades from missing assignments, they can still make it up this week! You can also go to Schoology on my English page and click on "Grades" on the left-hand side of the page to check for missing work. Please encourage your child to finish assignments in a timely manner. We are into our last week of STAAR Countdown practice and MAP review skills this week. The final MAP test for Reading will be May 4th (Math is May 5th and Science is May 6th). This is a very important test to tell us if your child is ready for promotion to the 6th grade. The Reading STAAR is also a good measurement and it will be the following week Reading May 12th-for in-person students, (and May 19th for online students Reading STAAR). Please mark your calendars, it is quickly approaching. All of these dates will be in the Class Story. Please remember to continue doing daily Exit Tickets by 11:59 pm to be counted present, and attendance does matter this year, per the State of Texas.

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians! We are on the home stretch of reviewing for the STAAR Test as well as the MAPTest. Please make sure your child is attending live zooms if at all possible and completing assignments and ALEKS. (10 topics per week on ALEKS) Thanks for all you do in helping to ensure this year is a success! -Ms. Piscacek
