The American Cancer Society focuses on finding cures and saving lives of people by helping them get better and stay well. They have programs and services that offer information to patients care-takers that help them get through their cancer experience. The American Cancer Society work hard to research the causes of cancer and many different ways that prevent you from getting cancer. The American Cancer Society also has a special program with guidelines on nutrition and physical activity. Their nutritional and physical activities guidelines show how your weight, diet, nutrition and physical activity can affect your cancer risk. The American Cancer Society hosts social events that both inspire patients diagnosed with cancer and as well as the community around them.
Cancer is caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body and is currently a global problem. There are over one hundred cancer varying from breast cancer to colon cancer even to skin cancer. Symptoms may be different depending on the cancer you are diagnosed with. Each year there is an estimated number of 1,658,370 new cancer cases diagnosed and 589,430 cancer deaths in the US. Currently, the American Cancer Society has estimated that there will be an estimated number of 60,290 new cases of breast carcinoma.
