From the Principal:
Dear Sunflower Families,
We want to thank all of the volunteers that made our fall festival parties a fun and joyful event for our scholars, thank you! The Book Fair is in full swing! We appreciate all the volunteers who are making this possible for our scholars. Check out the PTO blurb below for more information about the Book Fair as well as a fun social event they are hosting this Sunday on the playground. This will be a great opportunity for families to get to know each other and for our scholars to play together outside of school. PTO also has some easy fundraisers coming up, check those out below.
If you are coming to the Book Fair after school, please wait in your car until after our car line is completed. This will help us keep everyone safe.
We are also excited to announce that Watch D.O.G.S is coming back to Sunflower. D.O.G.S stands for Dads of Great Students and this is a national organization that gets male mentors in the schools. Our Watch D.O.G.S will volunteer in the lunchroom on Mondays and Wednesdays starting next week. They will help us supervise students by interacting with them during the lunch hour. If you are interested in volunteering for this, please contact Tom Craig at tcraig460@gmail.com. You can learn more about the Watch D.O.G.S organization by clicking the link below.
I have also attached another Sign Up Genius for more parent volunteers for the lunchroom for the months of November and December. We have added Fridays. We appreciate the support!
Lastly, our ESL Women's Group is back! Mrs. Buselt and Mrs. Soukup will host our first meeting this Thursday from 4:15-5:15 in the ESL classroom (room 404). This is a great opportunity to meet other ESOL families and during this meeting we will be learning more about what is available for children to do in the Lawrence community.
As always it is an honor to serve as the Principal of Sunflower Elementary.
