APEX Fundraiser is coming in February!
APEX Fundraiser is coming! Crystal Springs Elementary is once again partnering with APEX Leadership for a fundraising activity! This will be our 6th year participating with APEX Fundraising. Our goal is to raise money to add equipment to our playground and to help with the student supplies we are sending home monthly, so all our students have what they need for remote/virtual learning.
In February, we will be sending home participation bracelets and T-shirts to every student from APEX! Every student will receive these items. In the beginning of February, we will have a virtual APEX Pep Rally via Zoom. Each day following, APEX will join your student's classroom with a short lesson. In the past, these have coincided with the Northshore School District’s Second Steps curriculum.
One difference this year is that we will not be having individual student prizes.
We will instead have Team/Classroom and School rewards. You will be receiving more information in the next few weeks, which will detail the actual fundraising activity and what our Culminating event will be...at this time, either a Rockstar Rick Dance Video, or A Fun Run (on your own time). We are so excited to start our Fun Run/ Virtual Dance Party in February!
Highly Capable Testing Update
Grade 5 Update
We plan to work on device distribution for grade 5 during the month of January in hopes of screening fifth graders using the NNAT3 between February 1st-12th. Following the NNAT3, we will invite students to take the Iowa test if they score above the 85%.
Students in grades K-4
We are still working on the highly capable screening and assessment schedule for grades K-4. Our department will update families when we can safely test.

PACE Application Deadline
PACE (Parents Active in Cooperative Education), a choice educational enrichment program offered through the Northshore School District, is currently accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. All applications are due prior to the February 5th PACE lottery drawing deadline, and a virtual tour is required prior to application.
The hallmarks of PACE include an enhanced educational experience due to high parent involvement, enrichment activities, encouragement for students to become self-motivated learners and a strong sense of community among families. Families commit to a minimum number of volunteer hours per year of program support. PACE is located at three elementary school sites in the district with feeder patterns from all Northshore elementary schools.
A tour is required prior to applying to the PACE program. To register for a virtual tour hosted by PACE at Lockwood Elementary, please email membership@paceatlockwood.org.
